I see our mod is silent when pointed comments about issues of free speech and Canada being paired with an American state instead of being on its own as a Country. I still think there should be a Canadian Moderator moderating the Canadian forum. And yes there is one listed but never around.

Well, I agree with you, but I wouldn't be a volunteer for my own reasons, like I know myself too well. Besides which, I moderate on a much smaller site.

Would you be a volunteer?

Well I respectfully disagree. The forum is to assist campers and rv’ers from both sides of the border with mutual issues, concerns or experiences. For the most part, it involves cross-border activities for Americans wanting to visit our country, for Canadians to get or share information about American border activities and for Canadians wanting to know or share something within Canada.

You can choose to look at solely ‘Canada’ related threads or ‘Alaska’ threads or both. There should be no political slant or discussion according to the forum rules other than the need for interpretation of laws and regulations as they relate to camping or rv’ing.

Years ago we did have the Canada forum on its own and have since included Alaska within the Canada forum to ease the search and flow of information for those traveling through Canada to go to Alaska. As you can on the Canada/Alaska forum, there a significant volume of threads that deal with this. This actually was catering to members needs.

I was previously the moderator for this form (stopped due to personal commitments at the time) and there was never an issue with an American or Canadian slant. Either way someone needs to moderate the forum and it is really irrelevant what the nationality is of the moderator. From a personal perspective, I’ve traveled significantly and lived on both sides of the border as a Canadian.

As an expatriate Canadian - I have to agree completely with Packerbacker. The role of a moderator is NOT to represent any aprticular point ofe view but to ensure we all stay within the bonds and rules of the Forum and to keep posts within the parameters of their particular forum.
I think that mostly our mod. here does a pretty good job - even though the Cassiar Highway is a Canadian road! But mostly used by folks on the way to or from Alaska - Packerbacker's point made!

I agree generally with PB and Cruiserjs.

However, there have been times when I felt a moderator, whether covering during a holiday period or other, was way too quick to zap something because of its significance on the southern side of the border.

One of those instances is fuel, especially in non central areas. & no matter what one says, Canadian variations such as regulation can be very important to rvers.

& it maybe that because I live and have lived on the non-central,less densely populated areas of this country I am more aware of some of these things.

I have tried to be consistent and even when I have missed it wasn't due to not trying. As far as being silent, responses would only prolong the debate and I am not here to debate but to MOD. I DID send the note to ADMIN about the comment for their notice. If you haven't heard back, then I guess they agree with me. If they didn't, believe me; we both would have heard back. Enjoy the forums as they are.

If you have a true complaint don't make a post to start something, PM ADMIN and let them know how you feel. THAT is how to get something done IF you really feel the need. Make the forums better by posting relevant things rather than trying to cause a split. This one is closed since it seems to reference a thread already running.
