Our 2000 Rexhall Aerbus doesn't have an inverter, and we'd like to have one installed this fall while we're in Oregon (sales tax, you know). Any recommendations on service shops who can do the job right? Preferably on the coast, but in the valley is also good.

Try these folks in Springfield.http://www.amsolar.com/ I personally never got anything from them, but many snowbirds in the Yuma area have, if they haven't bought in Arizona.

Age, agility and inclination, mostly. When I'm dealing with something about which I know little (and this is one of many such areas), I'd rather leave it to the pros.

I know you said in Oregon...and this is in Washington, but they have a good rep with me so thought I'd pass it along. RV Mobile in Everett at (425) 355-1170. On the old #99. I haven't had work done but have ordered parts via Internet and have talked on the phone and they were great in that regard.

Here's a good question, do you already have the inverter, or have one in mind that you're planning to buy? If you're in the area, I might be able to do it for ya for probably about half what the shops want, depending of course on how easily I can get at your battery bank, how much wire is needed, etc....

Thanks, everyone for the input. AMSolar doesn't list inverters on their website, but they do in fact sell and install Magnum pure sine units. We'll be stopping by their place in Springfield after Labor Day to work up a plan.
Joe, thanks for the offer. If I knew the answers to all your questions, I probably wouldn't be looking for help.

Consider an Xantrex Prosine.. I think the company is in Washington (IIRC)
You might be able to get them to do a "Factory" install.
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

Having just done this to my coach which did not have a factory inverter I must respectfully disagree
Every coach is different of course but pulling control cables into the proper area for the remote and pulling 4/0 from the batteries to the inverter is a real bear--
Then rewiring the main panel and installing a sub-panel for the inverter is not piece of cake either--
Oh yeah-- You are probably installing an inverter/charger (which is usually far better than your "converter" BTW) so don't forget to remove the converter and clean that area up-- Or you could just disconnect the input and leave it for a spare I suppose--
Mine (Prosine 2K) works great and looks like the factory install but I wouldn't personally do it for someone else for a thousand dollars--
(Maybe be a different story if I did two or three a week)
It's not rocket science but its not fun either and you will leave a lot of DNA samples scattered around

Buy one on line. I purchased a 2000 watt Zantrex from Tweetys.com or 800-358 5894. Very good price, no tax, and no freight. I have purchased several things from them, and have been very happy. There is nothing better then a happy camper!
