I'm getting tried of campgrounds calling themselves "Resorts" when they aren't anything but a gravel field with hookups. Isn't there a standard amongst the RV camping association for what constitutes a resort?

Even if there are some standards, individual CG's can (and do) misuse the term. Caveat emptor.

I don't know if there is a standard, but my idea of a resort is one that has a lot of activities and amenities not normally found at a campground. Items such as swimming pools, golf courses, club houses with pool tables and wide screen TV's, vollyball, tennis courts, store and/or restaurant, maybe a tiki bar, and the like make it a resort in my estimation. A campground on the other hand tends to have little in the way of manufactured entertainment, but much more in the way of natural beauty, coupled with more peace and quiet. It's one of those things that is hard to describe, but you know it when you see it.

Nope! Just like there is no standards for "Mom's Diner"! owners are free to calln it what they want. As Dave said - caveat emptor (look it up).

a resort should have paved roads, cement pads, full hook ups, landscaped ,store, place to eat ,and lots of things to do in the park to keep busy or just hang out like a adult lounge no kids,a place you dont have to leave if you dont want to.

From what I've seen, a resort is an RV park that charges more.

RV Resort is more $$$$$$ and that is the major difference, Probably an idea cooked up by KOA's, and other RV parks latched onto the idea...mo money, mo money, mo money!!!!

This is my idea of a resort, noted above. Just in the little time we have been in the RV and camping world we have come to realize that the word "resort" does not have a definition in the camping world.
Our expectations have really changed since we have stayed at some "resorts". I thought the campsites would be like noted above, but usually they are worse than regular campgrounds.
In fact, we have found that most state parks have better campsites than the "resorts" we have stayed in.

"RV Association"? After Rv'ing now for nearly 10 years, traveling approximately 100K and staying approximately an average of 60 days per year in our 5'er at close to 50 different CG's, I can without question and unequivically answer your question with one simple well chosen adverb: NOPE!!!
