We are going to look at a 2003 Gulfstream, Cavalier 29.5 with the V-10 today. I see in reading on this site, that a lot of folks have a V-10, so here come the questions, what do you all think of the V-10? I am not famaliar with this engine, my buddy has a 26' C and he really likes his V-10, I guess I would also like to know the real world gas mileage that I could expect from this unit. More question, if you have a Gulfstream, what are your likes and dislikes about this unit. It has a 5kw Generac genset, what do you folks think about this genset, it has 412hrs. on it, is this a lot? About how many hours will a genset last? The asking price is 16k, which I think is a good price for a 2003, what do you all think?
We plan to climb all over and under this thing when we view it today.

Not sure what the market is but sounds like a great price if in good condition. Be sure to look close for water damage, check the floor under the cab over bed for any damage as well as the complete ceiling. Look for soft spots on the floor. I would rather have a bad engine vs hidden water damage.
2003 Jayco 308fbs eagle 33' tt, towed by a 2003 Ram 3500 slt, quad cab dually, cummins diesel ho, trailer towing package, with 6 speed manual. Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. The V10 eng is the best gas eng that I have ever had and that is many over the last 56 years that I have been driving. The last three RVs that I had had V10
eng actually I still have a V10. Get between 7 to 10 MPG.

About the engine, the Ford V-10 is the bast engine you can get in a gas MH today, in my opinion, and I have owned 4 of them, 3 in work truck vans, and on in my Motor home. Your mileage will depend on the driver and its load but will be around 8 to 11 mpg, try to keep the speed down, wend resistance is a big deal for gas mileage.
Generac, makes a good generator, but dont get one that runs on LP Gas unless your Motor Home runs on Diesel, all LPG units use a lot of LP Gas, it doesnt have as much energy as a gal of gasoline or diesel.
But all in all, you will like the strong torque of the V-10 even at slow speed, its a great drive trane for a Motor Home. In my opinion, its the best, that's why there so common.

The V10 is a very strong motor. We are able to pull around our Jeep wrangler without any problems. As for gas mileage it's been running about 8 - 10 or so depending if I have my foot in it or not.

Check this unit very carefully, 16k is very cheap for this MH. I would think a 2003 in good shape would be closer to 30k.

My C has the V10 and I can't see having anything else. It runs up the mountains over by TN. and N.C. with no problems at all. Easy to service too.....

The problem with the current market is prices are all over the place. Blue Book, NADA etc. are really not good indicators what you can really purchase a RV for today.
I agree though 16K sounds to good to be true, If I could find units for sale in south Florida for a deal like the OP has found I would give it a serious look.
Did I miss how many miles are on this unit ?

This unit has 57,000 miles on it. I have not heard from the lady whether the other person firmed up the deal yet. If its supposed to happen then it will.
