We just got home from Lake Rudolph, in Santa Claus Indiana, had a great time, and great place for the whole family with Holiday World next door. Make sure to rent a golf cart while there.

Good to know...we are checking that campground out for 5 family vacation spot next summer.
Can you give us a few details about the campground, specifically about the sites themselves ?? Grassy/sandy, shady/open, paved/gravel...that kind of thing ??

the deluxe sites are concrete paved with wifi in some areas, they also have campfire rings and grills at sites. The area we stayed in was very shady (not good for satellite) but very nice.

Sorry, but I cannot agree about the Lake Rudolph assessment. Took my two grandkids and Holiday World was great. The golf carts were a nuisance. Too often a bunch of kids were driving them. If not too fast , they had too many people in them. In one instance 7 teen girls were on one cart being chased by several boys. Some of the boys were running through campsites trying to catch the girls. A security cart was only a few feet behind one time and di nothing to stop it. In another instance a teen boy almost ran over my grandson and yelled at him for being inthe way. The roads and sites are very narrow and saw several travel trailers go back to occupy another site because they were not able to back in. Lincoln State Park is only 4-5iles away and cost 1/2 the fee at Lake Rudolph.

I really like this area of southern Indiana. The campground itself is the very best in the early or late part of the season, basically May or Late August through October when it isn't so crowded. We have always been treated very well when we camp there. The pools are always nice and clean too. Never had any issues other than when the campground is full it gets very smokey at night. Holiday World is one of the nicest and cleanest theme parks we have ever gone to.
The other poster is correct about Lincoln State Park too, it is also very nice.

As with all campgrounds, a lot depends on the time of year. We've stayed at lake rudolph about 10 times over the past 4 years. Half were great experiences and half horrible. The bad ones tended to be in Mid June through end July when the campground is abo****ely at capacity. The golf carts are a major pain, no matter what time of year. They are out of control!. However if you can get past the golf cart issue, and camp in may or early June, or after mid August (after the KY kids go back to school), this campground is quite nice. Very wooded and so convenient to Holiday World (in our opinion, the best amusement park in the midwest). JMHO

I've stayed here 2x's in the last 3 yrs....all (both) have been great experiences
thoughts
1) get a campsite below the pool...I think we did 9d or 10d very nice.
2) Golf carts are plentiful but part of the fun...if kids are driving them that's against rules so press security...not a huge problem when we were there.
3) get a deluxe site...gravel sites pale in comparison, gravel sites short unlevel, deluxe sites grand...
4) both trips first week of June but park was pretty full.
5) Book early...best sites go fast...not unheard of to make reservations one year in advance.
6) Loved the shuttle to HW next door
7) kids loved hearing the roller coasters/screaming from riders while camping...really added to the ambiance...not too noisy to be a nuisance though
8) Pool and playground top notch. Shower houses well above average.
will return next year.

We have stayed at Lake Rudolph several times over the past 3 years. Always had a great time. Yes, the golf carts get a little out of control but I know they do patrol some as my son got stopped and they checked his license. We have 4 teenagers but camp with friends with small kids. Havent always had the greatest sites but you need to reserve early. Halloweekends are great! We are only about 1-1/2 hours north and our kids go to Holiday World a lot but always ask to camp at Lake Rudolph.
