We would appreciate any comments on construction, maintenance and longevity. Thank you. West Beachhouse.

You might start with The RV Consumer Group, www.rv.org, who rates most of the RV's out there in several categories. One of them is Resale value (or something like that).
I know of no RV rating system like Consumer Reports. It would be helpful if one existed.
The information from this Forum are mostly opinions that are not objective and, thus, not worth much for your purpose.
However, there is a company, I think located in Kansas, that makes custom units that should be better made than the production models that are cranked out to keep costs down. Of course, the custom model will cost more; possibly a bunch more.
BTW that company is HorizonsRV.com.

Everybody is going to have their own ideas on this subject----so, my input would be the Arctic Fox/Nash, made by Northwood, in La Grande, Or. They are made as a 4 seasons camper and for the Canadian environment as well as being made as an off road camper--you will find that an awful lot of owners use them for fishing or hunting trips(Boondocking)--- off of the beaten path. Check out these 2 sites. Good Luck, Lars

Within limits, it is not necessarily a matter of the most expensive being the best in regards to the quality, durability and features like the "best bang for the buck"! Higher end usually has better construction, as far as walls, floors and ceilings being laminated construction with aluminum frames. Sturdier chassis and better suspension components. Jayco, StarCraft, Artic Fox, Open Road all come to mind.

Longevity is based to a large part on your preventive maintenance methods and how you treat your "toys". That all said there are Manufacturers out there that tend to just build a better product overall. My experience has been with one company, as I have had 7 Jayco's with virtually no issues over the past 30 years. So I can't directly say that I hated "brand B", or "brand R" because they were pieces of junk. But I've know other owners of those brands that had issues, sometimes extensive problems.

We've either been very lucky with our past and present Jayco's, or the very real probability is that they were just better made! When I add my own experience with other Jayco owners in our SoCal Jayco Travel Club, they seem to mirror my ownership experience. Our current Jayco JayFlight fiver is several years old now, and is going to be replaced in the near future (yes..another Jayco!), because they have never let me down! Good luck in your choice, and don't listen to the disgruntled owners of various brands that will say either "it's a******shoot trying to find a decent RV", or you have to spend over $200,000 for a quality RV. Nope! You just have to keep your eyes open and do your research!

I would suggest you determine a price range, type of camping, type of exterior, etc. that you want.

If you were looking or a well built unit within a reasonable price range I'd say to give Sunnybrook a look. They build a coach with a lot of thought into structure and finish. They don't skimp on the framing in walls, floors and frame, they use exterior grade plywood, walk on rated roof decking, Endura 10-year cabinets and the whole coach has good finish detail.

Good luck on your search. Some of my favorites is Sunnybrook, Crossroads RV, KZ, Heartland, Jayco.
