Well Wife and I just completed a 2200 mile trip from Illy to Santa Rosa Ca. 2 things I notice. I80 is VERYYYYYYYYYY LONG, It suxs from Reno to Sacramento.

Most importantly and perhaps your expertise will help.

Why is it after you fill up with fuel, you wash the big windshield spotless on your rig, THAT only after 15 minutes on the interstate , the biggest bug in history splats right in the middle of your view?? This happened every single time I refueled!!! lol

if once you dont suuuceedd
If once you deont succeed
If once you dont succeed try tryyyy
If once you dont' succedd
Ok if once you dont succeed just freaking DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the drive between Reno and Sac was kind of scenic, but I haven't done it in a motor home. The train between these two points is pretty scenic also.

If your saying the road construction, the several years of trucks with tire chains in the winter eating up the road, then I agree. Your probably missing the beauty of the Sierra Nevada's, Donner Lake and Truckee. Not far away, Lake Tahoe. If it is the summer, the great weather with temps not higher than 75... Did you stop at Rainbow Lodge. A great place to stop on the west slope to have a bit of lunch or just enjoy the river rushing by. Did you notice the river? Oh yea, there's a beautiful river that follows I-80 down from Donner Pass.

I quit washing my windshield just for that reason. Will hit it every couple of nights at the campround but never at the gas station.

Came across 80 from Reno yesterday in our coach.. Extremely bad in the slow lane. Worst stretch of road I've travelled on in the whole country. The chains have destroyed the concrete. As you noticed they are doing major repair so I hope within a year or so it will be better.

I didn't have an RV, but almost 23 years ago, I drove from my old home in Mt. Vernon NY to the Bay Area. I was on I80 from the George Washington Bridge until I got onto Hwy 680 in Benicia, CA. Me, a cat, and all my stuff, and it took 4.5 days. My longest day was 925 miles. I believe the only road longer than I80 is Rt. 20.

joelbaker 925 miles in one day. How many hours of driving was this? What was you normal average speed? This is a good distance covered in one day, if you were the only driver. I will taking a trip next month and shooting at 678 miles coverage in one day and I thought this is pushing it. I have never been able to cover over 600 miles in one day before.

Have you tried spraying insect repellant on the windshield after you wash it?
