I have purchased Sams Club gas for years and never had a problem
with the quality. Having said that, let me also say that Sams
prices are not always the best. More often than not, their prices
are higher (West El Paso}...

Have to agree!!!! Last week here in Oakwood sams club diesel was $4.75, a block away at Quiktrip $4.65.
Best deal here in northeast Georgia has been Kroger groceries. good price plus save 10 cents a gallon off with card.

Every Tuesday morning on the way to play golf I pass by the woodriver cracking plant in woodriver ILL. and there are every brand of tanker trucks you can think of lined up to get gas. there is an island where they put the additives in for each brand and then they pull up to the next island to fill up with gas. So I really don't think there is a lot of difference in gasoline's except the additives.

Same here on the East Coast. Rarely are they the cheapest.

Hi we Joined Costco & Sams Club just to save on gas ,
we just got back from a 10 month trip to Calif.
the gas stations have a lot of space ,easy in & out
in Calif there is more Costco station than Sams clubs
most of the time Sams Club & Costco were .05 cents to .15 cents cheaper
Gas was high $4.45 to $4.65 a gal and UP & UP the highest was at BLYTH Ca. $4.99 a gal for unleaded

I buy gas from Sams Club in Lake Charles, La. and they have diesel also. I watch the larger truck stops prices as they sell more fuel and their prices drop or rise faster than Sams. I have never had a problem with Sams Club or Walmart fuel.

My son has a client that works for the state of FL as an inspector and the Murphy stations that are at the Sams locations sell the poorest quality fuels in his area. It still meets state requirements however but has more particulates so you may have a shorter fuel filter life. You will also find a lot of stations are going to 10% ethanol in their gas.

Since most gasoline is shipped by pipeline from the refiners to the terminals where it is then distributed by truck to the station. The only difference between company A's gas compared to company B's is the detergents and other additives that they add at their end of the pipeline.

Murphy at Walmart is usually the cheapest around here but put it on a Walmart gift card and they take off an additional 3 cents per gallon off the sign price.

However most Marathon stations also have a gift card and they take of 2%, it used to be 4% but they lowered it. At over 3 dollars a gallon that means you save more than 6 cents per gallon.

Where they make their money is when you leave a balance on the card they earn interest.

Using Sams' gas in my car, pickup, motorhome and motorcycle. No problems. They gotta buy their gas from somewhere....usually a local refiner who also supplies all the other major brands, too. Maybe Sams' does not have all the "additives" that others have...but for any practicality...it burns just fine.

I found that I can use the Sams' Club charge card to buy gas at Wal-Mart gas stations, too. No problems there, either!

There are different qualities of gasoline out there. I have a client that inspects fuel in the state of Florida. Whatever or wherever that fuel comes from is not always from the same gas pipeline.

My client specifically stated that when he inspects Different gas stations there is a quality difference. Based on his inspections, which include testing the fuel and checking the filtration system, Hess and Amoco have some of the cleanest fuels. While the fuels sold at the Wal-Mart and Sams locations are of a lesser grade or filtration setup before delivery.

He also stated that One reason is Amoco and Hess require their fuel to be refined or filtered more before delivery than other comapnies.

Is it worth saving on the fuel side and pay for it by replacing the fuel filter in your vehicle? This is a personal preference and one's view to cost and benefit.
