I have a 5th wheel and am considering which of these fans to buy to evacuate air from the upper section of my unit. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about MaxxAir's customer service but I do know about the folks at Fantastic Fan. They're incredible. My FIL's (father in law) motor went out in their Fantastic Fan (it was purchased in 1998). He called the company and they sent out a brand new motor at no charge. The company does indeed what their customers to stay with them for life! There are stories all over the forums of similar experiences.

Our rig came equipped with a Fantastic Fan, but with the usual crank open vent.
So we just had a MaxxAir II vent cover put on over it. The best of both, as I see it.....
The Fantastic Fan moves a LOT of air.

Ditto on Fantastic Fan service. If you have a problem, they will send out new parts free of charge with instructions on how to repair. They move alot of air, and the temp-controlled unit with rain sensor is nice...

Like others, I don't think it's an either/or choice. I have one vent with a Fantastic Fan installed, and it is great. It moves a lot of air with little noise.

We had a Fantastic Fan installed on a new TT then went back and had a MaxAir Fan installed in the other vent. After one trip, we noticed the MaxAir Fan was SOOOO much quieter, we went back and ask the dealer to swap out the Brand New Fantastic Fan and relace it with a second MaxAir Fan. He did it for the labor and a 20% restocking fee of which we gladly paid.
Just another opinion.

I have had both and prefer the MaxxAir TurboMax to the Fantastic Fan. The reason is that the TurboMax is quieter because it is mounted on the outside of the unit rather than just in the vent. In addition, it can be used in the rain without purchasing another cover like I have to do now. Both move about the same amount of air.
Here is a post that I made earlier on the subject. You might also want to take a look at the post on page 4 of that thread by rockhilllmanor. He compares the CFM of both fans.

Maxxaire all the way. lots of posts here about Fantastic Fan owners putting a Maxxaire cover over their fan to be able to run it in the rain. why not do it right to begin with? and a major problem with fantastic fans appears to be the automatic stuff to shut in the rain. why not avoid that potential problem in the first place? and with a Maxxaire, the noise is moved out and away from the opening.

I have had both. The Maxxair is quieter on all speeds, is easier by far to install, and moves more air for less battery draw on low. And, it can be operated in the rain and can be trusted not to let rain in.
However, it takes up more space behind it, which can interfere with an air conditioner or solar panel placement. My Maxxaire is developing a squeak, so we will soon see if their customer service is as good as FF.
