The ceiling vents for our A/C have left a little to be desired - the vanes didn't change the airflow much.

I came up with ((link removed 8/2/08)).

Not an example of great craftsmanship, but they do the job.....

Has anyone else done something similar to this?

White paint would be nice.

2003 Jayco 308fbs eagle 33' tt, towed by a 2003 Ram 3500 slt, quad cab dually, cummins diesel ho, trailer towing package, with 6 speed manual. Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. I was thinking it would be white paint - trying to match the color of the vents. Making them pretty will probably be a job for the off-season.

You could also check out the duct work section at Home Depot, Lowes or local hardware store. Look for the dryer vent outlets. Some can be found with plastic covers instead of the aluminum cover. They come as white, are lighter and probably easier to mount to the existing vent.

I did condider different dryer vents - also stovepipe, PVC elbows, you name it. I put a lot of thought into it. Each alternative had its own drawbacks. Chosing wood was my own personal decision, of course.

Either way you cured a problem and that is a good thing.

Thanks for the chance to do more thinking on my part !!

Thanks, Andrew -

Yes, they do get the job done - much better than the OE vents.
I should have waited to post pics though - after I got them "prettied up" some. Oh well......

Buy white styrofoam bowls and cut then in half. Connect to roof with double face tape. On our TT they fit perfectly on the vents themselves.

The wood deflector looks a bit rough for a finished roof. Sorry

Do you have a opening you can slide open on your unit to let alot of air blow down? It seems there may be a design issue with those units. When the air blasts down on that closed vent it doesn't know where to go. check this thread out..
