JAY & MIKE,
OK GUYS, GUESS WE'D BETTER START KICKING IT AROUND.
WHAT ARE THE CG CRITEREA? # OF SITES? PAVILLION? CHEAP RATE?
SEEMS LIKE WAUBEEKA WAS A BIG HIT FOR THE MSR. SORRY I MISSED IT MIKE! I'VE CAMPED THERE TWICE & WILL DEFINATELY GO BACK. ONCE WAS THE FIRST WEEKEND IN MAY & THEY CHARGED FULL FREIGHT, $45 FOR AN "AIR CONDITIONED" SITE. THE 10% DISCOUNT WOULD GET THAT DOWN TO ABOUT $40 BUCKS.
MIKE, IF WAUBEEKA, WOULD YOU SUGGEST THE SAME AREA OR SHOULD WE BE LOOKING DOWN BELOW WHERE THERE ARE MORE SITES?
I'M ALSO WONDERING ABOUT WOODLAND HILLS. NOT THE MOST EXQUISITE CG, BUT THE LOCATION IS IDEAL, RIGHT OFF THE INTERSTATE. THEIR SAFARI B IS CONDUCIVE TO A GROUP SETUP. IT IS 12 SITES, BUT ONLY 3 ARE SEWERED. SAFARI A & C ARE ADJACENT, PROBABLY ANOTHER NINE SITES THERE?
THERE IS A PAVILLION & BALLFIELD RIGHT THERE. ANOTHER NEGATIVE IS THAT I DON'T THINK THEY OPEN TILL MID-MAY.
JAY, DO YOU WANT ME TO MAKE AN INQUIRY WITH SHADY PINES? OTHER CGs? GOT IDEAS? LET'S HEAR 'EM.

As far as I'm concerned , from a committee member standing of course, I have no issue bringing the spring rally to Waubeakee.
So if Mike, Steve, and Gerry have no issues lets just do it!

UNFORTUNATELY, AS NOTED ON THE MSR THREAD, STEVE CAN'T MAKE IT.
LOOKING AT THE CALENDAR, IF FERN IS CORRECT ABOUT MOTHERS' DAY BEING 5/10, I PROPOSE WE SHOOT FOR MAY 1,2,3. THAT MAKES OUR MOTTO 1,2,3 RALLY!
MIKE, YOU'RE AWFUL QUIET. HAS GERRY OFFENDED YOU?
RIGHT NOW, I'M UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THIS CMTE IS THE THREE OF US. AM I MISSING SOMEONE?

2) May 15th & 16th - 2009
Locations:
1) Oak Haven Family Campground - Wales MA
2) Shady Pines Campground - Savoy MA
3) Quinebaug Cove Campground, Brimfield, MA
4) Camp Waubeeka, Copake, NY
Maximum Sites: 30

I see that Oak Haven has modified their "rally" field (McLeod Field) since our first rally there, as well as relocated (and finished) their pavilion.
I also see that they appear to open the first of May.
McLeod Field appears to have 12 WES sites and 21 WE sites.
Their 2008 rates are $35 for WES sites, and $33 for WE sites, and they offer a 10% Good Sam member discount, and a 10% discount for groups of more than 10, not sure if they would combine these discounts.
I think it's a nice fit for us, and close enough to allow our end of May dry campers to attend without a significant travel expense.

Circle CG Farm Campground, Bellingham MA is another option? Steve should know something about it...I see a rally (kind of) field called FIELD on their map with 26 sites, most W/E.
IRV2 Nor'easters had their 2007 spring rally at Ross Hill Park - Lisbon CT and raved about the campground and how the management could not have been more accomodating. They reserved the "Highground Safari" field for the rally. There are 34 sites in the field with water, electric and cable TV hook ups. There are WES sites available in other parts of the campground. The campground agreed to give the IRV2 group one site to use as their common ground meeting area for campfires and they provided them with one load of firewood free of charge. They didn't require the pavilion because they went Saturday night to Mohegan Sun for a buffet style dinner. There is one nearby to the Highground Safari area.

I LIKE THE FIRST WEEKEND IN MAY, IT SEEMS TO FIT THE TRADITIONAL TIMEFRAME. I FEEL IT ALSO HELPS WITH ATTENDANCE AS FOR MANY IT'S THE FIRST OUTING OF THE SEASON AND FOLKS ARE REALLY ITCHING TO GET OUT. (THAT'S WHY WERE ALL HERE RIGHT? 'CAUSE THIS IS AN ONLINE 12 STEP SUPPORT PROGRAM TO GET US THROUGH THE OFF-SEASON?)
I HAVE NO OBJECTION TO ANY OF THE CGs PROPOSED, SHADY PINES IS OFF THE BEATEN PATH BUT CLOSE TO ME.
I THINK MY EARLIER QUESTION REMAINS OPEN, WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA? ARE WE LOOKING TO GET THE HEADCOUNT BACK UP TO WHERE IT WAS? IF NOT, A PAVILLION MAY NOT COME INTO PLAY.
LET'S HEAR IT..............

I guess my criteria would be (from most important to least):
1) a connected group site area/rally field for 30 sites w/min. W/E
2) a good rate discount for a group outing
3) use of a pavilion
4) location - since it's always 250 miles each way for me no matter where we go.
Sewer sites are not an issue with me w/rig capacities
Do like wifi for free
A group fire site for free is nice
