The manufactured home industry uses all compression fittings on all the 3/8" and 1/2" lines. The 3/4" & 1" mainlines are crimp.
And I'd believe it mite be because of the no tools needed for compression fittings. I mean, how many of those $120 crimpers would end up in lunch buckets ?

And you've just given me an idea for my next weekend project... It works great! My black tank is enclosed and I can't get to it to put a flush valve on it, so this was my 2nd choice. You can buy a pipe bracket to secure the line once you put the valve on it.
