My plumber reccomends a particle filter (whole house) in front of the pressure regulator.

Just make sure the housing on your filter will withstand the higher pressures on that side. I'd use a good screen on the hose washer like the ones Camco sells and put the filter downstream. You don't want the your hose handling the high pressures either (unless you bought your hoses from the water filter store). The regulator should go on the spigot and protect the hose and MH from the high pressures.

The hose from the Water Filter store are the greatest! They use a hose rated at 200psi that doesn't kink and then they crimp solid brass ends on them. I paid $1/ft + $6 for ends at Quartsite in March. When I got home, I unloaded all the old hoses I'd be fooling with which needed replacing every 2-3 years. I don't think I'll every need new hoses again.

We use the Watts Model 263A (Water Filter Store). We had the IR56 model but when it had to be replace I went with the 263A for more flow. I probably needn't have bothered because the restrictions in the plumbing inside the rig restrict the flow more than anything else.

I spoke with Rick today and this is what he recomended the 263a. He said it is smaller than the N55 and supplies more than you will ever need. The N55 is good but seems to be a little overkill on the flow as you will never approach that in your RV.

The 263 and the N55BG are the same price and the N55BG has twice the throughput. Overkill? Possibly, but at the same price, I like the overkill.

Camping World carries a adjustable water regulator which we have and are happy with. You will need to go to their web site to check it out. Never have seen it in their catalogs. Price was arounf $50+.

Has anyone thought of a way to secure the regulator to the spigot so no one will walk off with it???
Thanks

The only one I ever lost,(?) I was the one who walked off and left it behind
It's another thing to remember when you're going through your exit routine - make sure no one interrupts you

If there's someone around that's going to take your regulator, you'd better hope your compartment doors are strong enough to keep them out of there. The #500 key that fits most compartments is very popular - replacement latches with unique keys are only $50 apiece.

If your regulator is in your compartment how do you protect your water hose from the spigot in to the regulator, also how did you leave your regulator behind??

I believe the proper place for the regulator is on the spigot - that way it protects your hose from excess pressure as well as all the piping. Unless you've got high pressure hose (like those sold by the Water Filter Store - good for 200 psi), your hose won't be able to stand the high pressure and heat from the sun beating on it long.

Who would want one that says "Watts"? They only want the ones that say Campco or Camping World.
