It would probably be best if we kept the lawyers out of this topic all together.

ARVC is a trade association of CG, whose stated goal is the promotion of CG use, and keeping the government from competing with private CG's... there certainly wouldn't be any surprises there... most of their efforts go the lobbying governments into funding outdoor activities of all types to generate tourism and there by more business for CG's...

affinity most likely has memberships in hundreds of trade associations... but being a dues paying member or supporter is a far cry from being part of any suit to prevent over nighting that associating may be involved in...

most of us belong to some organization and do not agree with everything they stand for...

I suspect these attempts will continue many unabated... CG's are organizing and if they do better than we do at being united they will win their share of these cases...

Well said, however, if orgainizations and clubs , did not provide the funding for ARVC, these suits could not happen. (However, ARVC claims to the the LOBBYING group for rv park owners, not a trade organization)

They say politics make strange bedfellows, how about this: RVIA supports and donates money to ARVC and ARVC sues the state of Illinois and Nevada claiming rvs violate the health laws IF parked in places that do not furnish sewer hookups. (walmart dont you know).

Yet RVIA IS the lobby group for rv makers.

So in essence, all makers of rvs, donate money to RVIA to support them, then RVIA donates money to ARVC to sue the states and cities to prevent the rv owner from using their self contained rv anywhere except an rv park.

Only in america, only in america.

Once in Palm Desert, CA, I asked the local police who happened to be driving thru the Walmart lot if we could park overnight. He asked if I felt safe to continue driving (wink wink, nod nod), to which I felt compelled to reply "not really".

He directed me over to a far flung corner and said "be sure to leave only when you're more rested".

That restored my hope that lobbying by CG groups and other busy-bodies will never trump public safety...

I read it also, but don't remember where. He was saying that, barring a gate or no parking sign, any parking lot accessable from a public road is in the "public domain". I don't know if I would bet the farm...
