Hi Capt PJ. I have looked into those ideas and even a few more for a while after I first got the rig. Over time though I've found out that the height (13ft) hasn't really been a problem for me. Other then being careful to pay attention to where I'm going I haven't really had any problems getting around. So at this point I'm no longer looking for a way to lower it. In fact as soon as I can save up some bucks I'll be buying bigger tires for it! Right now I'm running the stock tires which I think are 33's. I'm looking to jump up to 35's since going to my original plan of 40's would just cost to much money and get to tall. I'm already as tall as many trucks with 6 inch lifts so I don't want to get any taller then absolutely necessary! Since this isn't the camper I'll take for my out of the country adventures I think it will fine for here in the U.S. Thanks for the compliments!

I am surprised no one referred the original poster to John Steinbeck's "Travels with Charlie". He did the extended trip with his dog many years ago - before all the parks and convinces we have today.
I have not had the time to do an extend trip like you are referring to, but have enjoyed several long weekends by myself. I look forward to the day when I can take the extended trip you are referring to.

You really won't need any more stuff for 8 weeks than for 1 week. Don't forget to build in some laundromat time. I find that my only limitation is how much alone time I can handle. One solution is to break up a long trip with some brief visits to family or friends along the way. My personal record for a solo trip is 32 days, at the end of which I did not want to stop but work was calling. Sigh. Some day....
