I am going to make some of these this fall and I have some questions:
1. Where do I get this material?
2. What do you cut it with?
3. How do you join 2 pieces together?
4. I would like to attach it permanantly under the mattress. What would you use to attach it?

Here is a source and you would cut it with Scirros, the larger kind not toe nail or nose hair scirros. Bill
Reflec stuff
If you looking for insulation value, look at what is called High R board and Home Depot or Lowe's, with the reflective material on both sides.

I bought mine at home depot. I cut it with scissors, and joined it with the tape that is sold for that pupose. The tape should be sold near it in the store.
I have just layed mine under the mattress with no attachment. But I have a popup so that may not work in a hyrid.

Here was a recent thread:
Reflectix Thread
Basically, it's like bubble wrap coated in a durable aluminum foil. Easy to work with and can be cut with scissors and pieced together with duct tape. Large rolls are available so you can keep the window pieces all one piece, with no taping needed.
Good Luck!

Let me suggest snaps for the installation under the mattresses. Unless you buy the really good velcro, it doesn't like to stay put on the vinyl covering on the plywood most have as well as on the Reflectix itself... Let me also suggest using true duct tape - the really sticky, shiney metallic tape you get at the local HVAC supply. Works SO MUCH better than typical grey duct tape! I've learned these tricks from my experiences.

Have had my window inserts in three seasons without issue.
It took a couple of hours killing time at a CG with my son assisting me. Scissors and the real duct tape (not the household variety as clarified previously) works like a charm.
No reason to velcro anything regarding the under mattress application. It stays in place while in transit as well.

How much material do you need? You can buy a roll from the manufacturer for less than at the local store (but you will pay shipping).
http://www.radiantbarrier.com/ is where I bought my stuff from (now they also have a radiant barrier curtain material which has potential for rvs as well as houses.
If you have some visqueen around, it makes it real easy to measure the windows for inserts. Tape a piece of the plastic over the windows, draw an outline of the window opening with a merker and use that as a template to make your window insert. A panel under the mattress is helpful for keeping the cold from creeping in as much the cooler months. When camping in the Summer, the panels on the tent ends is a must if you have a site with no shade. Even if it is shady or not as hot, the panels will help protect the soft tenting from bird bombs, tree sap and other dirt.
Tempshield/Reflectix also makes great cooler covers.
A good sharp pair of scissors and the ac aluminum duct tape will do the trick
Good luck

When I had my Fleetwood Alligience my son was selling cookie dough for the HS band. It came wrapped in reflectix, and band director was going to through it out. I got enough to do both bunks, do window inserts and do one bunk in my sister's HTT. In my PUP the bunks had a plywood for the bed. I just stapled it in and duct taped it into my sister's
