We tow a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 and can't tell it's there with the Detroit, but something just as easy to set-up and with better gas mileage would be ideal.

We're seeing a lot of Smart Cars being towed four down here in Europe. May not be the same model as sold back home though.

'03 Jeep Rubicon. Tow 4 down. Don't know it's there. It's a blast to drive, can go anywhere.

At home it's my daily driver. As people said, rough ride and no room, also, lousy milage, but WE LOVE OUR JEEP!

If I were to replace it (and there's no reason to) I'd probably go for a mini-SUV. Something with 4-wheel drive, but a heck of a lot more comfortable and economical.

We tow a Subaru Forester 4 wheels down in neutral with no other mods necessary. You can do the same with the Outback or Impreza manual transmission. You cannot tow a Subaru with automatic transmission. Chose it because it is small, can load Kayaks on roof rack, has the rear room for dog, and is AWD. We live in New England and the AWD comes in handy in winter and is great for our teenager. We have had no problems towing it.

Started out towing a Jeep Wrangler. We bought it specifically to tow, and used it very little otherwise. It was light, and easy to tow, but limited in storage space and relatively uncomfortable. Tried towing my wife's Cadillac CTS with a dolly, and that was way too much trouble. Last year we towed my daughter's Honda Pilot "4 down" over most of the west and found it to be almost ideal. 4wd, lots of room and easy to tow. After having to return it to her, we bought a used 2006 Saturn Vue. It's almost 1000# lighter, has the same engine and drive train as the Pilot, plenty of room, and eay to tow. It's only drawback is it's only 2wd. I went used because I understand Saturn no longer uses Honda engines, and I prefer that engine over the GM engines used now. If I was to upgrade, I would try to find a used, low mileage 4wd VUE.

Started out with a 2006 Civic and tow dolly...got to be a pain, so we traded in our other car (Ody) and picked up an 07 CR-V. Very easy to use - a person can hook it up by themselves if the other is sick. (main reason we did it)

Gets good milage, nice to drive and can tow 1,500 when not traveling. We would get another.

We tow a '98 Olds Cutlass (Malibu style) V6, automatic, 4 down, 3100 lbs, room for 5, very comfortable, good gas mileage, easy entry and exit (compared to a '99 Saturn SL2 we had previously).

Saturn IS NOT the only GM car that has an automatic okay'd for 4 down towing without modification (you may need to pull a couple of fuses to keep the battery from draining because the key must be in ACC position so the steering wheel can turn while it's being towed). GM has a several to choose from anywhere from the smaller Cobalt under 3000 lbs to the midsized Malibu styles around 3300 lbs now and several more.

I decided I'll replace our Olds Cutlass with an Chevy HHR (about 3200 lbs and 30 mpg, 4 Cyl) when I can afford it. The 2009 engine will be FlexFuel rated and I'm holding out for one of them - (used). I've seen several favorable comments from owners that tow them and I like the crossover style - I'm going to trade off an Aerostar van along with the Cutlass so I can get down to just one (dual purpose) vehicle.
