i have a 4 yr old 40g and it broke a couple years ago ...while running it sounded like the piston or valves just broke... there was maybe only 5-10 hours on this unit...so for the last couple years it just sat in the TT about 2 weeks ago i decided to pull it and see what broke...well it took all day to get all the sheet metal off...then started to remove head bolts hmmmm pretty loose that cant be good... turns out to be a blown head gasket... 4 bucks in ...little locktight this time still very hard to start...gas had dried in the pump and lines and filter cleaned all lines...still no gas pump is stuck..look on line 170 bucks for pump hmmm (took it all apart and cleaned whats to loose) well it runs great now have put a few hours on and is doing great...parts are pricey, but kinda easy to install...

I found only one breaker. It was not tripped. I did turn it off and back on a few times and it appears to be working fine. .

You call that: Exercising the breaker.

On boat docks we had to do this weekly because of the salt air.

Probably, you should, too. It wipes the contacts before they get beyond help and mandate replacement.

I have seen a low voltage condition due to the governor spring broke and so it let the throttle sit at rest and not at a full open condition. Did the generator idle up when a load was put on it? Also, was the resistance test at the slip rings or through the brushes, if the brushes are not making full contact, you will get a false resistance reading for the rotor. I believe that the lower the resistance reading for the rotor, the higher the output voltage from the stator, someone correct me if I am wrong. The magnetic field would be greater, and the amperage draw would be so great as well, the fuse should have burned to the PCB. Do you still have this gen.?
