Hello my name is Jamison,
I am a college student in Indiana and am writing a paper on RVing technologies. I have created a survey to gather the statistics needed to write the paper. All RV owners who can help me by filing out the survey I will greatly appreciate it. To encourage responses I will personally buy a random respondent a Garmin navigation unit. The survey only takes about 5 minutes to complete, thank you.

Much of the "technology" stuff seen in RV's is probably the "obvious" stuff, like GPS receivers, Hi-def television, surround sound, wireless interenet, cell phones , and the like. I would also like to mention some of the more subtle technologies that aren't really obvious that go into RV'ing that isn't really seen, but does make life on the road easer. Here are a few examples:
Lighting technology has come a long ways in the past several years. Fluorescent lighting, and even here recently, LED lighting has become very popular in RV's because they use so little power compared to incandescant lighting. When camping without hookups, saving every watt counts. These new lighting technologies allow much more light, with significantly less wattage, and allow the battery life to last that much longer.
Power conversion and generating technology is also an area that has become very advanced. Many RV'ers hit the road today with solar panels, and even wind turbines. Even the old standby, the gasoline powered generator is different, with Honda and other companies producing "inverter generators" that are very quiet, efficient, and produce very clean power that is good enough to run electronics. When power is produced from solar panels, or from batteries, inverters can convert the direct current into alternating current to allow one to use any variety of electric household conveniences without being plugged into the grid.
Many of the traditional appliances that have been installed on RV's over the years have also had technological improvements. One of the most welcome ones is the gas appliances are now equipped with automatic igniters now, so there's no more fumbling around with pilot lights. The refrigerators used today will automatically switch from electric to gas if the power is disconnected
Technology even exists in the construction materials of modern RV's. In the past, most RV's were constructed out of steel and wood. Today, fiberglass and aluminum are more commonplace, saving weight, and making the outside skin more aerodynamic. Modern RV's are also thermally insulated today too with high tech materials, making them more comfortable in very cold or hot weather conditions

With web based advertising growing at an astounding rate, what a great way to harvest customer lists of people proven to be buyers of the products that you are selling. Let us know if your contacts explode like when you fill out a form at a RV show. Or join GS

Thank you to everyone who has responded. The survey is going to stay active until Aug. 31st, so please keep the responses going. I will announce the winner of the Garmin navigation unit the first week of September.
