Thanks for everyone's input, especially Hiker3 who gave me a detailed step-by-step on how their family sets up their 8.0. It sounds like my wife and I are doing things exactly like everyone else. The camper is really quite simple and I can't even think of another way you could open and close it to mess things up. Livin' Lite has been great to work with so far, but this is our first warranty issue so I hope the great customer service continues. I will post an update for all current and interested Quicksilver owners to let you know how this is resolved.

Wanted to update my situation for all Quicksilver or potential Quicksilver owners out there. We'll be taking our camper to the dealer this Wednesday. Livin' Lite is sending a new tent. It appears the middle bimini pole on the side that is doing the rubbing is bent or installed incorrectly. Instead of laying parallel to the other poles like the opposite side, this pole lays at an angle across the bottom pole. The dealer will make corrections to the poles and install the new tent. So far, other than being hard to get in touch with, Livin' Lite has been great to work with. I hope this is my first and last time having to deal with warranty issues, but I am glad I still have 10 months under warranty to test things out. Will take a couple short weekend trips this fall and then will be heading to the Florida panhandle for a week in April.
In case some hadn't seen it, Livin' Lite received the 2008 Roaming Times Green RV of the Year Award. Here's the link to the article.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they STILL have my camper and the problem has NOT been solved. Here's the update:
They installed the new tent but during testing the techs put a hole in it. They kept it an extra week to do a more thorough search to see what was causing the tears but came up empty. They checked several things but could not determine the problem. The latest last week was Livin' Lite asking them to measure the poles to see if there was a discrepancy. Apparently, after contacting them today, they told me the poles measured correctly.
The techs at the dealer told me they were looking for another solution, but I told them I think Livin' Lite should be determining defects in their campers under warranty and I certainly hope they stand behind their product. I will post another follow-up once this thing gets resolved, but so far I am not happy with Livin' Lite's response. I'm a little concerned that Livin' Lite's quality might be slipping. Our dealer told us that in the 3 years they have been selling Quicksilvers they have never had one back for service, and now they have three in their shop and they are not getting great response from them.

Gee, I had wondered how things were going.
This is certainly not the type of experience that brings confidence for prospective buyers. The mfg. should be jumping through hoops to get this fixed.
Sorry this has not been resolved yet.

Well, the mfg. has definitely not been jumping through any hoops. After having my camper for 5 weeks the dealer said they were going to send it to Livin' Lite because they just couldn't locate the problem. That was nine days ago. As of yesterday they still hadn't heard back from Livin' Lite on a date to pick up my camper. I don't think I have experienced worse service on anything I have ever purchased. When I asked the dealer how it was to deal with Livin' Lite they just rolled their eyes and then said it is not uncommon to wait 2-3 weeks for a return phone call or e-mail.
After not hearing back, the techs at the dealer took another look at my camper last weekend. I am sure they were getting sick of me calling every other day to check on progress. They told me they had possibly found the problem. Seems there is a metal strip along the door edge that was not flush with the camper wall and the edge was extremely sharp. When folded the poles pushed the canvas against this edge. They sanded the edge and pounded the strip flush with the wall. They told me I could come pick it up any time so I sent an e-mail that I would be in first thing Monday morning to get it. Well I got there and they weren't ready for me. I went back to the garage and found my camper next to a fifth wheel they were working on. My camper was a mess with parts from the fifth wheel piled on top. Someone was using it as a workbench. Needless to say I was not happy. After getting my camper back home and looking it over more thoroughly I discovered two slits in the cover as well as some damage and missing parts on one of the support poles. Now it is going back in a couple weeks so they can fix the damage their techs caused.
At this point I am wishing I stayed in a tent! Once these yahoos at the dealer fix their mistakes I am done dealing with them. In April we have a 2000-mile round trip vacation set for Florida so that should be a good test. Our warranty ends the first week in June. If problems persist, I will drive it the 3 hours south to Livin' Lite myself and deal with Mike directly.
My advice to anyone thinking of purchasing a Quicksilver is to give Livin' Lite a call or e-mail them. See how promptly you get a response (if you get one at all). Do research on dealers and check their customer satisfaction ratings. See if they have had to do any repairs on Quicksilvers and how their response from Livin' Lite has been. Make sure you are comfortable with who you plan to do business with. These campers aren't available from a lot of dealers, so sometimes you don't have much of a choice. Most owners I have spoken with have not had any major problems. Unfortunately I am one of the few that has experienced issues, and the customer support after the sale has been dismal.
