I agree now's the time to buy and there are some great deals right now on all models. Only thing is the trade ins are worth nothing.

Dodge never has nor never will have the same payload capacity on SRW and DRW, and you'll never find anything to prove otherwise, posting false data won't help your cause.

I just posted the FACTS from the Pamphlet Dodge gave me when I bought in 2006. I really don't care if u drive a Dually or a Chevy Luv. If u like it great. But BS is BS and facts is facts. Dodge puts the same rear axle under their Dually they put under their SRW. So how in gods name could it increase hauling capacity. Go ahead and live in your little world - but you're wrong.

I think we are mixing up towing capacity and payload capacity. Towing capacity for a 3500 with 4.10's is around 16000 pounds + or -. Payload which is the weight you can put on the rear axle is different for the SRW versus DRW even though the overall towing capacity is the same.

It just mean you can add more weight in the bed or tow a fifth wheel with a higher pin weight

And there have "NEVER" been misprints of any type. Unfortunately they cannot recall that brochure to correct it. I am constantly finding misprints, misspelling(?), wrong number key struck, or any other number of mistakes showing up in printed material or on the web. I am sure that others have seen this also and I have seen people come back to web postings and make corrections. Check the sticker on the door for max axle weights and they will definitely be different (had to change that) than the brochure.

Huh? SRW has greater load capacity than DRW by only a few hundred pounds, IIRC less than 500# - basicly the added weight of the fender flares, wheels, and tires takes away some of the Dually's load capacity. A 3500 is a 3500 regardless of how many wheels it has.

You are confusing load carrying capacity with trailer tow ratings.
A dually can carry far more pin weight than a SRW 3500.

I like the Ford because it has a very stout frame and axles (Dana 60 front, Dana 80 rear) but I'm not excited at all about the 6.4 diesel, wouldn't want the V10 at all, and I hate the frontend on the new Fords, it's down right UGLY. The '99-'04 were best looking of the late models and '05 was OK. The '08, no thanks, I'll pass on the apprearance.

I like the Dodge because it has the best engine (Cummins) and still looks nice and the Dodge prices are usually good. Too bad the Quad Cab isn't a real crew cab. Too bad the Mega Cab only comes with a short bed. A 3500 DRW Mega Cab Long Bed would be great!

I don't like the GM's. I don't like independent frontend on a 4x4 truck, or aluminum differential housings, or torsion springs. I don't like the look of either the Chevy or the GMC, they're as ugly as the new Fords. The Duramax engine and Allison trans I like and I would rather the 8.1L than a V10 if I was looking for a gas engine truck.

I think the Dodge would be the one I would choose, in Quad Cab DRW with a Long Bed and of course the Cummins with exhaust brake, probly with the manual trans and the 4.10 axle ratio.

Never happen, no how/no way. Using Chev/GMC 3500HD SRW vs DRW, the DRW will carry almost 1,000# MORE cargo weight than the SRW:

SRW = 3880
DRW = 4863

As stated earlier, most, if not all posters will recommend the TV that they own..it never fails. I don't know about Dodge specs, BUT the Chevy 3500SRW has far less cargo carrying capacity then then the 3500DRW. I'll say all of the big three Dually's will do the job for you. Where ever you get the best deal, that would be the one I'd buy...however, that being said...I think the best transmission out there is the Allison..period...Having towed sig. 5er in the mountains of NC,SC,WV and TN...it works flawlessly...some very long steep upgrades "going" become very long steep downgrades "coming back", or vice/veras...I do not need an exhaust brake, the Allison has always slowed truck and 5er down to a safe speed, no matter how long and steep the grade was,(I26 from NC into TN) and I 64 from Beckley WV to Sandstone Falls, to name just a couple...Best thing GM every did was hook up with Allison. This is my 3rd. D/A combo and it has more HP & Torque, at this time then the others and, In my worthless opinion, has the best transmission, hands down...
See, I didn't do anything any different then anyone else would have done on here, I recommended "my truck"..GMC/CHEVY..

Chevy/GMC specs for 3500 2008 crew cab model:

max payload SRW 3855

max payload DRW 4979

Why would anyone buy a DRW if he could't haul more wt?

I recommended a Dodge, and I drive a Ford. To be specific, we have 5 Fords here and have had 2 Dodges (one I still own) and have had several Chevy's and one GMC truck, as well as Japanese and German brand cars.
