Drove to Atlanta and back this week on business.
Saw less than 10 class A machines on the road this time, far less than usual. The ones I did see were mostly upper scale ones, Prevosts mostly, 1 Dutch Star, 1 Journey and also a few class C.
Where are they? Parked because of fuel prices? It's been hot, too hot to travel?
Speaking of fuel prices, $4.27 at Love's in Marion, NC yesterday, still over $150 to fill the company truck. Glad I'm not paying that bill.

Heat has been an issue but there are less of all types of vehicles on the road we read and that includes RV's.

Don't axe me as I have no idea.
I want to leave this earth quietly in my sleep like my grandfather and not like the hysterical, screaming passengers riding in granddad's RV just before the big crash.

Also includes big trucks, still a lot of them but not as many as there use to be.

I don't know where 'they' are, but we've been out in the coach more this year than last despite the fuel prices. We made a trip from OH to GA and back in April, but after that we've mostly been making trips within the state (OH). When we do head out, we usually stay at our desinations anywhere from 4-10 days. We are finding that although we're taking more trips, we are often staying within 3 or 4 hours of home and staying longer when we get there. Perhaps some others on fairly tight budgets are doing the same.
Our next trip is tomorrow for 4 days at Cedar Point (woohoo, rollercoasters! ), then home for 2 days, and then we'll be heading out again for one our favorite state parks for 4 days, home for a week, and then at yet another favorite state park for 10 days. So, we're getting out there!

Gunny357,
I concur with your observations. I've seen the same thing here on our freeways.
The SoCal tourism board is touting the values of a "staycation,"
stay off the freeways & spend your vacation $ locally.
In our case we elected to forego our annual summer MH vacation for a cruise, cost of fuel being the main factor.
As to future MH trips they will be much shorter with longer stays.
I'm looking forward to the winter desert riding season, I'm sure it also will be impacted by the high cost of fuel.

I haven't noticed much difference in North Dakota and Minnesota. A lot of the traffic here has probably been to and from the FMCA Convention in St Paul, the WIT Rally in Forest City and We Fest in Detroit Lakes.

I saw quite a few on my trip south (NY to NC) last month...maybe you just missed the flight of the snow-birds? I'm sure the price of fuel has has some impact, but I don't notice a huge difference with the traffic on the road.
There isn't a fuel shortage...just a money shortage!

I sure hope your use of the word "axe" was tongue in cheek humor, and you don't honestly pronounce and use "axe" instead of "ask."

For 10 days, I've been working around the SC/GA line and camping at the SC Lake Hartwell Rec Area off I-85 between Atlanta and Charlotte. Haven't seen a lot of RVs period, much less Class A's.
Granted, it's been 101° on a couple of occasions and the lake is down 13', but the place has been empty.... 2 A's, 3 C's, 1 5er, half dozen TT's, 1 pup, and 3 cabin rentals in 10 days. Seems very unusual for camping season. Where are the locals?
