When we purchased our new trailer, we were given a free 1 yr membership with this resort. The people from Emerald Cove RV resort in Parker AZ want us to come, for up to 2 weeks, for free to tour their resort and probably try and sell us a membership. Is anyone familiar with them and do you know what their cost is? We're really not into RV resorts at this point in our lives, but for free, I might go if we get some positive feedback on them. Thanks...Sandie

I don't remember that park specifically, but the area has some scenery to enjoy. We spent a few days at the state park (which is very nice), don't know if there's two weeks' worth of things to do. If you want to relax a lot, it could be good. Just don't buy their pitch.

We are members of that park. Last I knew they were asking about $5000 for membership. They have various types of mamberships. They used to be a family oriented park and you had to own a RV before you could buy in. Now anyone can buy in if you own a RV or not. They have cabins and TT's that are letting prople use if they buy that kind of membership. It seems to me that the people who buy those memberships dont know enough to not walk through or run through others campsites. The last time I was there someone who owned a large boat was parked in a campspot, they had their CD player cranked up at 1:00 AM and were partying. We notified the security ( as if they couldn't hear them across the park). The security did go over there and tell them that they had to quite down. That lasted about 5 minutes and the noise was on again. After telling them 3 times to quiet down the security ignored our request to do something. Ten years ago when we bought in, if you were making any noise after 10:00 PM and did not quiet down, then they threw you out of the park. Not anymore. Another thing, once you buy in then you have to keep paying the yearly upkeep fee of about $300.00 or moer for the rest of your life. With some contracts you can transfer them, but if you keep the contract and don't pay the yearly fee they will send out to a collections outfit to collect their money. Good luck. Enjoy the free visit they give you, when listening to the high pressure sales staff don't believe anything that they tell you, ask for everything they said in writing and ask where to see it in writing.

We joined CRA, not for the home parks but more for the RPI Preferred access. There are only eight home parks with CRA but RPI Preferred has lots of parks in California for only $10.00 a night. We personnally don't like the Emerald Cove Cove park as it is to hot for us and the sights are to close together. If you are a river rat the membership will get you a spot right on the river. We use the RPI alot and they have some nice parks. We just spent the weekend at Silent Valley Resort and it is a great Resort. We have also stayed up close to Yosemite and other areas.
It is not a cheap membership so you will have to decide what works for you. Enjoy your stay.

We were there on a free stay some years ago. We went to our appointed sales presentation knowing that we were not buying. We were greeted by the salesman, he was courteous and smiling. He offered us coffee and donuts. All was going well. He told us the meeting would last about an hour. This was when I told him that I was not buying, that we were there just for the freebie. Boy, did he get mad. Said we still had to watch the video and listen to his presentation. I said go 'go ahead'. He stated the video and left the room. We sat back with our coffee and donuts and started watching the video. A few minutes later he came in and angrily said we could leave. I said 'are you sure'. He said yes. As we were leaving the office, I remembered that part of the freebie was an offer of $50 and a $25 meal card. I asked for these and he almost blew up. I told him that we had lived up to all our obligations and I wanted them.
He huffed over to his desk and wrote a check and gave us the gift card. I smiled, thanked him and left. We immediately drove to Parker and cashed the check. I thought it might be bad. It was good.

Go, Enjoy, Drive up to Parker Dam on the CA side and see if you can spot any burros.

We received the same offer when we bought our camper. Spent a weekend at Emerald Cove, AZ and received the sales pitch, they wanted somewhere around $11K for the full package. As we spend most of our time at state parks we would never reach that amount in camping fees. The free month you get has many restrictions on days you may use, ie.. off peak times, weekdays and such. It may be ok for some but wasn't for us.

Check craigslist and eBay.
Campground memberships, as well as timeshares, can be found for pennies on the dollar. I have purchased three timeshares from e-bay. They are still selling for 5x the amount we paid and in fact, we purcjhased one at a Gold Crown resort for $29.00! Not a mis-print. $29.00! We use it to trade to different resorts.
I have seen Colorado River Adventure memberships as low a $1000.00

HERE is one on craigs for $2k.
Google "colorado river adventures, craigslist" and quite a few come up for sale.

Thank you all for your responses. I think we will pass on their offer to come and visit. We once went to a timeshare offer up in Sedona, AZ and when we walked into the lobby area, there was champagne, pastries, coffee, small sandwiches, you get the picture. When we refused to buy into this thing, they never gave us our "promised" free trip to Vegas, but they escorted us out through the back door where we ended up in an alley and had to walk all the way around he building to get to our vehicle. I don't like being treated like that and will never put myself in that position again.

We went to Emerald Cove and enjoyed our visit there.. Right along the Colorado River.. The park has two swimming pools, plenty of activities going on, and full hookups..

We also attended the sales meeting, and said NO.. Could care less if the salesperson got mad or not.. That is their problem..

If one wanted to buy into CRA, then a Resale is the way to go.. We bought into a different Home Park, but still visited the CRA parks thru C2C, at least the 4 along the Colorado River..

Go, enjoy the visit.. Plenty of nice sites to see along the Colorado River.. Just be prepared for a strong sales presentation and let them worry about getting ulcers over your rejection, if you decide not to buy-in..

Since we both posted our messages at approx the same time, just ignore mime since you have already decided not to go..
