Hi folks,
My Winnie has a Tekonsha Voyager brake controller tucked up under the dash. Definitely NOT user friendly, in fact, access is via removal of the left dash speaker. So, it can't be for pulling a trailer with this type of installation.I assume it activates the tag axle brake. Does anyone know for sure if this is the case? If all else fails I'll call Winnie. TIA

Yes, it does operate the tag axle brakes. If you need more info go to this site Winne manuals and download the manuals you need.

They hid it up there so stupid users wouldn't mess with it but they need to be adjusted for weather, flat vs hilly terrain and road type. Mine would drag on dirt roads and wet roads. I learned where the sensitivity wheel was and could reach up there and tweak it while driving on my Ford Holiday Rambler.

newer ones are electric older models are hydraulic,i think i would prefer the electric brakes after working on the other.

My tag axle is hydraulic. Since 2000, the tag brakes have required only the same work as the other brakes, that is, yearly fluid replacement and inspection. They use Ford van shoes.

Thanks Brave, got the schematic. Winne also emailed me a sheet explaining how to set the gain for tag axle brake operation. Thanks one and all for your input.

I need to do some work on my tag axle brakes - I don't hink they're working as they should. I have a 1991 Corsair manufactured by General Coach (Thor) in Canada. They no longer manufacture motorhomes and can't provide any info. Any suggestions as to where I could get some info even if it's generic would be greatly appreciated.

Morryde is probably the most common. There are a bunch of variations and a lot of parts break downs on their site.

Would there be a controller on my 1995 Holiday Rambler Endeavor 36" with a tag axle? I never thought to look under the dash for one.

It looks like they are vacuum assisted on the tag axle itself.

Speaking of which - I hear a very slight hissing from the vacuum tank... is this normal?

Thanks in advance!

Brent

My 98 HR was electric. I have never heard of vacuum assisted tag; either electric or hydraulic. I have been wrong before. Once. The controller is right above your left knee, next to the wall.
