starting batteries are not deep cycle. a marine starting/deep cycle is not a true deep cycle either, it is a hybrid. somewhere in the middle.

I would suggest two 6 volt golf cart batteries wired in series for most applications. If you do a lot of dry camping then use four wired in series-parallel.
Golf cart batteries are about as close as you are going to get to true deep cycle.

Not enough information. If you normally camp with electric hook ups all you need is the cheapest automotive battery you can find. If you OCCASIONALLY camp without electrical hook ups then a marine/RV deep cycle will handle your needs. If you camp for extended periods of time (more than a day or two) with no hook ups then true deep cycle will be very important to you and a couple of 6 volt golf cart batteries are hard to top. Batteries should match your camping habits and its just silly to pay for the golf cart batteries if you don't need them. It's just as silly to try extended boondocking with an automotive battery on the tongue.

Good advise on the above post.

2003 Jayco 308fbs eagle 33' tt, towed by a 2003 Ram 3500 slt, quad cab dually, cummins diesel ho, trailer towing package, with 6 speed manual. Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing.
