We had a problem with one of the Triangle (goodyear) ST's on our 5er a month ago. The tread cords decided to pop, not the first time it's happened - and not only on triangles, has happened with GY and Carlisle too.

Well, I took it to the local GY dealer that installed it and he looks at it. Asks me if I can leave it, which wasn't an issue.

The next day I return and he's got a Titan tire on it. Never had one of these before, but anything FREE (yes, he replaced at no cost, tire was only 2 y.o.) is worth a shot. So, we'll see how this one fairs over the next couple of years.

Anybody here experienced with Titan tires???

Our tire dealer stopped selling Titan tires 2 years ago after he was unable to get any kind of compensation from them for damages to our TT after 2 blowouts (each side - separate incidents) - they did give us $20 each for 2 tires with less than 5000 miles and 8 months old.
Titan wouldn't even talk to him about it, no damages paid whatsoever, even after determining the tire was defective. At least with GY they will pay for damage done if you have a blowout from a defective tire.

IMO - you would have been better off with a replacement GY,
than mix and match.
(Although neither is a good choice)

From the experiences you have already had, "Free" doesn't sound too good!

Why/how did this "honest dealer" come up with that solution?

Hope it (free) "pays off".

Titan tires do have a checkered history. However, you may have a bigger issue if you weren't given "fresh" Titan tires made in Canada or USA. Check the date code on the tires! Some dealers like give you the impression they've given you a good deal when in fact they sold you "old New tires". I had a dealer try to install "new tires" that were over three years old, yet they looked and were sold as brand new. ST tires should be changed approx every 6 years, especially if the trailer sits a lot with long periods of duration before being moved. If the "free" tires are already 2-3 years old, the tires may already be at half life and more prone to failures. The so-called "honest" dealer may in fact be attempting to dump out-dated and questionable quality brand tires on you.

If all the tires are less than a year old and they were made in USA or Canada, you should be ok. Just keep the air-pressure at max rating and check the tires often for signs of bubbles or tread seperation, and you should be fine.

All kinds of opinions give without even knowing what load range titan he put on or even what load range were taken off and what was the weight of the trailer. I am running two load range E 15 inch titans on one axel and the D marathons on the other. Nary a problem yet with the titans.

I upgraded my junk Carlisle C rated tires which came on my 5er after 2 blowouts and have been running Titan ST 205/75R/15's with a load range D 3 years ago. No problems whatsoever and very pleased with these tires. Ck.date of tire and keep at max.psi. Craig
