66stag351, what is a gear vendor?

fordsooper... is a reflash available as a TSB, or is it a request by the owner of the dealer?

Ford is offering a $6500 rebate until 9/2 for an after tax price (with x-plan) at around 52k for the loaded Lariat with the 4:30's. As I understand, they are only available with the 4:30 now. This won't be a daily driver.
GearVendor is an overdrive nit that bolts on to the rear of the tranfer case. I went from 2000 RPM at 60 to 1500. And yes, 4.30s is all they offer now. They realized that there was no need for the 4.88s I think and there is a big difference in fuel economy.

Not quite accurate.

The GearVendor mounts behind the transmission....at least it does on the two vehicles that I have GV installed on.

Also, my RPM reduction is more in the 18-20% range rather than the 25% you are citing. Do the newer models really have such a significant change?

Depends on the install on the location, but for the most part it is after the last thing in line before your rear driveline...on a 4x4 thats the transfer case. Its a .78 to 1 overdrive that works out to a 28%...1/.78=1.28 so yes, I dropped from 2000 down to 1500 at 60 MPH.

I have an 08 F450 w/4.30 gears. I pull a 35 ft toy hauler. Loaded the trailer is just about 17k with all the toys. I get 6.5 - 7.0 mpg. Empty I get 11.5 with cruise control at 70 mph.

On a 2wd, it goes after the transmission. On a 4wd, it goes after the transfer case.

I thought the overdrive ratio in the Gear Vendors was 0.80:1 ?

That towing mileage is exactly what I get with my 6.0L F350 dually towing my toy hauler. I have the 4.30 gears also.

The brakes on the 2008 F450 are perfect. I set my rig up with disk brakes. The truck will stop the trailer with no problem and the trailer with stop the truck. I know because I have tried. The new trucks have had some radiator problems and I have recently posted the flash information. I would buy another in a heartbeat. It is a towing machine and handles well. I average about 8.6 mpg loaded without having my foot in the pedal. I usually tow a little above 29,000 CGVW.

I'm on my 3rd radiator, the bead would leak when the radiatior cooled.

I have an 08f350 SRW and put on the spartan diesel technology tuner and DPF Delete kit with 210hp. my mileage before averaged 11 mixed driving. now it is 16.5 with a solid 20mpg at 70mph. i have only towed my toyhauler once for 12 miles so i have not checked that mileage yet, but i was at 8 before, so i hope it goes up some. teh truck is very fast and runs great.
