DW has made a observation during the last 5yr. of RVing that many of the full time couples we have met were on their second marriage. What do you full timers have to say? Is the second time around less nest building and more adventurous or is it other considerations?

My second wife is willing to RV for extended periods of time, but she still wants a nest.
First wife thought that being with me full-time in retirement was not an option and said "adios".

Being that close to your spouse for an extended period of time causes one to kill the other.

Not that I am any expert on the subject, but I would guess that the second time around your criterior for picking a spouse is very different from the first time. I will probably be able to convince DW to maybe half time it at most. If I were to find another spouse she would probably be more amenable to full timing it for a while. My$.02worth.

It was my DW of 44 yrs who, 12 yrs ago, was the one who suggested FTing. As for me, once I got up off the floor, I couldn't focus on anything more than getting it done before she changed her mind . Thankfully, she's no where close yet to making that change.

We're fulltiming and this is the second marriage for both of us. I believe that we are both more flexible on more issues that we were in our first marriages although I really only have first hand knowledge of my own first marriage. Part of that flexibility is probably due to being older and the wisdom that comes with age. You learn that some petty things that really bugged you in the first marriage just don't really matter. Part is also due to being retired and not having the stress of working and young children.
Probably some of the desire to see our country comes from the realization that it is now or never. The need to do it as fulltimers comes from the reality that we can't afford both a house and to travel and do things as we desire.

First marriage, 37 years next week. We have RV'd for 35 years. DH suggested it after serious health issues made him unable to work. Cold weather is a real killer for him, so we decided together to sell our home in the frozen north and spend our winters south of I-10. I have always enjoyed traveling and my favorite place is in the front seat going down the road, either as driver or navigator.
It's only gotten better. . .

People change over the years and not always in the same direction. We've been married 32 years (not our first) and went into full-timing in the mid-1990's with equal enthusiasm. It was DH who decided to call it quits after two years, so we ended up with a park model and a 'stick & brick'.
Full-time RV-ing is a passion fully understood only by those of us who truly love it. It's by happy chance alone that a couple will both embrace the lifestyle.

Guess you could leave first wife at home...and take second "wife" camping
Actually, my guess would be that the second time around, you are probably looking for like minded person, who is willing to share your new interests. It is hard to give up the "nest", as it's where the kids come home to roost from time to time.....many wives won't give that up!
JMHO...and I'm still working on my first marriage.....not planning on a second (My story, and I'm sticking to it!! )
