We were camping for the weekend at Driftwood RV Park, in NJ. As we were leaving I ran inside the office to ask about a seasonal site for next year. The lady behind the counter said that they save sites for someone who is buying a trailer or rv from their company. I said that we bought our motorhome from them 5 years ago. she said that they could probably offer us a water and electric site. i said what about sewer? she said, "oh you could break down camp and dump then go back to your site or you could have someone come out and dump for you". She then said that i couldn't even find out about the water and electric site till Jan 09'. Can you believe that they would turn down a sure thing while waiting for someone to come along to buy an RV. Can you imagine how many times we would have to break down camp during a whole season? I guess they just don't need my business.
I was really disapointed, since i do like the campground. How would you feel?

Unless it is a very very desirable site. I would be --let say not in the best of moods, maybe you just got a "new" person at the gate. Where I am they cater to the return business. I think you have a right to feel that way, i would not like to break down my unit and move. In our ground (northern) only the new people get no sewers, to wait for one of us returnees to give up our site;

I'd try again with a manager or more business savvy person. That is if you really want to go back.

Sounds like some screwball way of doing things but they can operate their business any way they see fit. Maybe they didn't like you for some reason. No way to know for sure.

Every once in a while, a service business needs to be reminded what their core base is, warning them before they loose a customer accomplishes this. I have had more than one place not provide the expected service, or tell me some "company policy" will not permit an action.
If you call, or better still - Write, the owner, explain the issue, you may acheive success. Albeit, you are dealing with NJ folks, they are not all bad......just kidding. Some folks misinterpret their company policy, need a little push from a higher authority, then they realize customers supply the funds for their paychecks.
Contact the owner (not a manager) and advise of this issue. With the current economy, they will make exceptions, or they are ready to sell the land for commercial developement.

Yeah, I'd be pissed too!! Can't understand the logic of passing on a sure thing for a shot in the dark, but maybe they feel confident that they will be selling those RVs??
I'd write to the owner, as suggested, but also start looking at other CGs that offer what you want. I'm sure there are plenty of then out there!!
Good Luck!

When I was a kid, my parents had a variety of seasonal sites at Driftwood. Don't know what their policies were then, but perhaps a chat with the owner would clear up any miscommunications with the desk employee?

Agree a phone call AND letter to the manager AND ownership group are in order, if only to express your anger and disgust at the way they treat their loyal campers. You bought from them, so you're not even in 'violation' of their policy!
BTW, our family had a seasonal site in a south Jersey campground for many years without sewer. If the campground supplies a 'pump out' service, it's no inconvenience at all. What I would do if that is all they offer to you is insist you receive a reduced rate for that service, since you bought your rig through them. Better yet, they should supply pump outs for free!!!!
After all, sewered sited are reserved for those who buy from them. Free pump outs would be a lot like having a sewered site. Just an idea.

They just want to have something to offer,and close the deal on an RV purchase. It gripes me when I go to reserve a spot here in Fla.
, and I all the sites have been reserve for 11months. We're not retired and have kids, and can't predict that far ahead. I wouldn't waste the parks time of reserving and canceling just to hold a site when I'm not really sure I can make it. The only way to get into Disney is to call the week before I'm going, and get one of those cancellation sites. Even when they say their booked solid, theirs a always a handful of empty sites on any given loop for several days??
