Had a water line let go inside the trailer behind the shower and got me to thinking, what if that happened while we were away from the trailer for a day. Is there a 12 volt dc, water shut off valve available, so that a switch can be installed in the trailer and as we are leaving the trailer, one can turn off the lights and the supply water to the trailer??????????
There is a method to the madness, disturb the method and the madness begins.

Turn off the pump whenever you leave for any length of time - and, if on park water supply, turn off the faucet at the hose connection.

I've started shutting the water off at the CG water connection also. The challenge of course is to remember to turn it back on, but that's less of a problem than mopping up flooding.

When using the on board water tank we shut off the pump when we leave. If on shore water, we shut off the hose with one of these:

Washing machines use a 120 volt AC solenoid valve like you are discribing, don't know if anyone makes a 12 volt DC one or not.

The problem with the 120vac solenoids in washing machines is they are not contunious duty. In other words they can only stay on a few minutes before they start heating up and burning out the coil and posibably start a fire depending where they are mounted.

We use the same as downtheroad does except it is a double outlet one. When we leave just walk around the 5er and turn the valve and not have to worry aobut it. Return and one of us always remembers to go turn the water back on. Works great and will worth the peace of mind knowing that you won't have a basement full of water upon you return.
This is IMO

Trying to get away from shutting off at the hose. If I make it as easy as possible for family members, then its a no brainer for them. Kinda like the awning, now that it is electric, there is no problem to retract the awning when I am not there, especially this year, with all the weather we have been experiencing. Three awnings in four years we wrecked.
Tvman-I like that washing machine valve.
