Is it time for a kitty enema? Do vets do such things? I've done them, successfully, a few times. You can't use fleet or anything like that... I use warm water with acidophilus in it if I feel that's needed.

You'd talk to your vet of course.

As to why, my Dad's old cat was suffering from a Klingon the other night... he just really couldn't get the rest out, so I did, and it was full of hair. 'Tis the season for the late summer shed-out and my bunny-cats are all bursting with hair. It may be something more complex, but I wouldn't be so very surprised if it was something that simple.

What I want to know is, when are they going to start selling Comfort Zone for HUMANS????? 'Cause some days...

Best of luck, we'll all be hoping for a successful poop!

Isn't it great when people band together for such things?

Our kitty has diabetes and the food they put her on stopped her up, sooo I sauted her some chicken in olive oil then added a little more and it is working better than the laxatone. Good Luck

Repeated bouts of constipation cause or are caused by the same pathology that leads to megacolon. We're not sure of the exact causation. Diet changes can often help in chronic situations. Enemas are given frequently, sometimes use KY jelly mixed with warm water, have used fleet, sometimes warm soapy water. If you can get the poop to pass with oral laxatives, it's always better. Hope that is all that is causing the elevated liver enzymes.

Thanks everyone and Dr. Doug, I'll keep trying the stuff the vet gave me, and I did add a little olive oil to his food which he's eating well but I can't let this go on to long. I also hope this is what has caused his liver enzymes to be elevated as all the other numbers in his blood work were good and this appears to be his only problem....lets hope that's all there is to it.
It's nine forty eight right now and no movement as yet.

Stay safe...it's been incredible the damage Fay has done so far, so much water and such a slow moving system, the east coast got nailed.
Thank you for thinking of JJ...but stay safe yourselves.

Doug just came upstairs and said JJ has pooped.
We gave him a pediatric enema with warm soapy water and he's let go of about a cups worth, by no means do I think that this is all of it but we'll continue with the wet food which I've added a little olive oil to and we'll see how it goes over the weekend, I just hope he keeps going and it wasn't just because of the enema.

Sounds like JJ is making progress. That is a good sign.

Sounds like so far so good, thanks for the poop update! I am sure JJ is feeling... ummmm...... relieved as well.

May everything continue to "go" the way it should.
