I put my generator under the corner of my fiver with the exhaust pointing away. Keeps the gen and my cord dry.

To those who want to keep their generator dry, can you name even a SINGLE case of a camper being electrocuted by their generator?

On the other hand, exhaust fumes kill on a regular, but thankfully rare, basis. Running your generator AWAY from your RV is safer than close at hand or under an awning.

Now, we all chuckle at the sap running a gas combustion device indoors, but how many of us operate LP gas combustion devices indoors, such as ovens, heaters, etc? IMO, Darwin stands ready to wink and point at any one of us, if we let him.

Hate to say it but where has common sense gone. Saw on TV some nut trying to cross a flooded river with a little car. Lost car and almost his life. I saw a guy at a rail crossing try to beat a train. Little mustang no match for large train. Train never had time to stop.Mustang was shredded.Yes the idiot driver jumped at the last minute.Darwin wannabe.

Most of us are doing things that will shorten our live. Some just fast track it.

It's amazing how often this happens.

My friends and I explore old mines. It's dangerous but we know the risks and have the proper gear (helmets, lights, harnesses, descenders, ascenders, gas detectors, etc.). Every time someone gets hurt or killed in a mine and it makes the news I get an e-mail from somebody.

A few months ago, two guys died in a mine after being overcome with gas. Wow! Kinda scary until you read the whole thing and find out they were pumping water out of the mine and using a portable gas generator to power the water pump.

Any guesses where the generator was?

Yep, that's the same reason I had to stop using my gas blower for dusting the inside of my house

I have been worried about posting about using small kids dome tents as a generator shelter in the rain. The tents are just the right size but the attraction to kids of a playtent negates the using these small, colorful tents as a generator enclosure. They should make a khaki colored tent for this purpose I think. This is so you can run your portable generator in the rain.

If you want to use a tent use a open PUP TENT. Actually this amounts to a pair of tent poles and some anchor lines (At least 2 per pole) a rope and a tarp

It's an iverted "V" Or if you like a "^" over the generator, open at both ends so air flows freely through it.

For those who don't know about Darwin Awards

Been there, read that, used to have the "T" shirt but alas I wore it out I liked it so much,

(She sells a number of T-shirts with selected stories printed on 'em, she also sells other stuff. But mostly she gives away some good reading (Which you can buy in a book store if you wish to support her)

Yeah a pup tent would work better and would not be likely to trap a child inside.
