I use a CargoPro 5'x10' aluminum landscaping trailer for my Victory, with a front wheel chock and tiedown rings mounted on it. It's the perfect size for a big cruiser and it only weighs about 220 lbs, so it's easy to muscle around by myself. I have a rock guard (with flaps, not those broom things) on my MH and I've never had anything come up and hit either the bike or my toad.

My friend has a 40'Alpha DP with a Hydra lift. He carries his HD but with 800# of bike + 200# of receiver and being cantelevered 18" passed his hitch, his rear axle is overloaded.

It's build correctly but it doesn't meet the carrying capacity of the axle or the highway. He hauls it anyway. It's his choice. I say "don't complain if something goes wrong".

A tag axle has nothing to do with whether you can haul one legally or not. They use tag axles to balance the weight of the MH and to give it enough carrying capacity to comply with road laws or to meet the needs of the buying public. (As in CCC).

You might do well to check state weight laws and be sure that your idea falls within legal limits. You can read other posts on this website and others that several states are cracking down on overweight RVs. As more and more people overload their RVs there are more and more accidents. As the accidents increase law enforcement will be cracking down more and more. Weight limits are there for safety reasons. It matters to me that all vehicles I share the road with are in safe condition. I do not want to suffer injuries or death because someone ignores the laws of common sense.

Heck with the coach, the rear lifts take there toll on the bike.
For two years And forty-thousand miles our 04 American Eagle was equiped with a
American RV lift. Never knew it was there but the ULTRA-CLASSIC spent alot of time out in the weather. That's just part of the problem. Mounting in the rear caused a pita to check and service the coach. Exsesive caustic grit on the bike and so forth. Remember the bike stays with the coach and there are times this becomes a problem.
If you utililize a rear lift as a temp solution or for specific to and from trips it works well but exspensive.
I now haul the SE-ULTRA3 in my SUPER-DUTY tow'd with RENAGADE LIFT. This or any variable seems to work better And offers more choices.
Example, coach breaks you can unhook truck and continue to destination with all onboard. Leave the coach in Vegas and haul the bike to LA for a run and still get in sites and shopping for your other half.
With a pickup you always have a support vehicle and a bike. The bike does not take as much of A beating and either do you.

A few things we've found out over the years the hard way toting cycles with class A's/coaches.
Believe it or not those Air Tabs everyone bad mouths so much do keep a bike on the back a LOT cleaner.
The basic receiver on the back of a coach may be rated for 5000 pounds but that's it towing weight not it's carrying weight. We've seen a couple of heavy cycles bit the pavement due to recievers/platforms rated for 5000 pounds towing, but only 500 pound tongue weight. Which the bike and rack actually are being suspended off the ground by the receiver.
Getting true scale weights is really a must. That much weight cantilevered off the back can dangerously alter the axle weights and unload one axle and overload another.
We also found bikes are great, but as a full time toad they leave a lot to be desired.
Our folks that want motorcyles with them AND not freezing or getting soaked bringing back groceries have "standardized" on the pickup Toad with the bike in the back.
Of course this again brings up the receiver limits. A 3000 pound rated receiver ain't gonna pull even a Ranger/S10 with a big bike in the bed. So that's one more thing to check before buying.

I got one of those Lowe's construction trailers they sell for bout $2500 it's 6x12--I beefed up the floor with an extra layer of 1/2 inch plywood and put in some heavy D-rings in the floor with a wheel chock and I have hauled my Electra glide all over the country ---I paid $1600 for mine and have all total about $1800 in it including my little flame stickers from AutoZone----I aint fancy but sure hauls my bike just as well as my friends bike trailer that cost him $6000 and I have put a heck of alot more miles on mine

I have been taking my Goldwing with me for ten years. First I used a trailer, but then my wife couldn’t go anywhere without me. You also have to find a place to park the trailer at the campsite.
Now I tow a PU with the Goldwing in the bed, that way my wife and myself have other ways of going places if the weather is bad. And she can now go alone in the PU.
The PU has a loading ramp so I just press a button to load the Goldwing. I have used this ramp in my last two tow PU truck.
