Porta Boat

I don't have a problem with the web site. I own 2 inflatable Kayaks and have used them on white water up to class 3 and for small lakes. I don't fish out of them, just have fun. I don't own a porta boat but I can see where they have a place. The web page doesn't offend me, I know what I have and the Porta Boat people are not in business to promote Inflatables, but to sell the virtues of their product. The buyer has the job of making an informed decision whether their product meets their needs. Just my opinion

While I think the Porta Boat is a great idea. I have to agree with others that the way they display the inflatable kind of makes their advertisement look like those TV commercials where they fumble around with something so obviously that you wonder how this person was ever able to servive the first grade. Advertising today seems to be written for to an insulting level.

What is wrong with the site? It does look dated but they are not selling to teenagers but older men. I have a customer that states he is over 300 pounds and swears by his. He pulls a Hi/Lo TT.

I notice that they do not state max rated HP for outboard. Does anyone know?

that is a very interesting question. I was turned off years ago when they just said a weight limit. then the sticker on one had a low hp rating. when I talked to the boss man at foldaboat I was informed that they could supply a higher horsepower rating sticker, but it would have a lesser allowable poundage, or some such.
I wanted to use my 8 hp yamaha electric start on one.

site looks fine to me outdated some ,the sinking inflatable is kind of funny and I don't own ether type or take offence to it, I think the inflatable is more of a joke then being serious ,there's a lot of cheap badly made Chinese inflatable's out there.

I agree that the web site is not up to todays standards for high end recreational equipment. Take a look at Hobiecat, or Foldboat. On the other hand, the Porta-Bote is a great RV product. I owned an 06 10ft, and added a 4 stroke 5 hp Nissan and 55lb Electric Minkota. The boat does fly with the 5 hp (max size for that boat), and I could reach almost 17mph with one person, and gas lasted for 3 days on one tank (picked the 5hp for use with an external tank, and weghs almost the same as the 3 1/2 four stroke).
The only downside was that the Porta-Bote is more difficult to assemble than advertised (especially in cold weather). The boat breaks down in about 3 minutes, and is bullet proof construction. The 10ft was easy to handle (about 62 lbs) and load, and very compact storage when not in use. I sold it to a family with a 5th wheel, and then mounted the Porta-Bote under the RV for easy access. I decided to 'green' with no gas or motor. I now own the Hobie Cat i14t inflatable pedal.paddle.sail kayak.

I thought they used to state max of 10HP on their website. I notice the specs page lists maximum gas engine weight. No doubt about it, the Porta-Bote website could use some revising.

I agree the caparison page makes it look a little bad. I think the real intent, as shown on the front page where they state "An Inflatable Owner's Worst Nightmare!!", is that the Porta Bote isn't nearly as vulnerable to puncture as many inflatables sold.

Here is the image I believe everyone is referring to.
