Could someone advise me if brakes are required and why on tow dollie.

I think most states require them ours does on anything over 1000 lbs being towed , you add all that extra weight you need more stopping power.

The reason why is the same reason there are brakes on both your rear and front wheels.

Another thing about brakes on a dolly is without them you can't have a break-a-way system that will stop the dolly of it come loose from your RV.

I would not pull a dolly without either surge or electric brakes on it even if it was legal. They reduce the work load on your RV brakes and provide added safety.

Jerry if you mean to be legal then it is state by state per post on the subject. If you mean required (to be safe) that will depend on other issues like the weight of the TV and Toad. A DP has more reserve braking power than a 31' Class see in most cases I am guessing.

I think my answer would be: and why wouldn't you want brakes on your tow dolly? Some things are just common sense folks. But then again some of us aren't blessed with that either.

Were I the manufacturer I wouldn't even build my Dolly without brakes due to the liability factor alone. And again we come to the common sense factor.

I see that our mod must not have liked my kidding about brakes and being blind folded.

Most states requir brakes and I think that it would be a rise choice on your tow dolly.

I think the surg system of brakes would be a good choice.

I do not know the size of your class A but if it is a small class A the brakes would be a great choice.

Mod, I think you should put the guys post back up, he does have a point in his post. And it should be allowed. He attacked no one.

I also ment no harm with my post, I thought it was funny...Trust Me.
