...in the black tank. It appears I have one in the recently purchased Class C. I won't know for sure until the tank gets a little more liquid in it, and I dump it. If the dreaded mound is there, what are some known viable methods to get rid of it? (yes, I did a search, and only came up with a description of a brown bear encounter.) So far, I have heard "use Rid-X and wait several weeks" or "use a flush wand, and keep working at it" or "use a steam cleaner" or "use a pressure washer". I don't want to wait several weeks, and sticking something down the toilet that more than likely will back blast at me just doesn't seem real smart. Any other ideas?

Ah..! A problem better known around here as the "Poop Pyramid".
Fill the tank the water, let it soak a day or so (nice visual eh?), dump several bags of ice cubes, sans the bags, take a nice drive, and then dump and clean the tank. The ice cubes will beat things in the tank loose and then just melt. This will be a really good start.

I had that particular poo-blem with my trailer when I got it. What I did was fill the black tank with hot water, let it sit overnight, take it for a drive over some bumpy roads, drain, refill with hot water, repeat. Took me four times to remove the pyramid, and mine had been sitting for three years with it

for one thing you are not using enough water when you flush the toilet. start with about 2 to 5 gallons of water before you do anything and use enough water, say half the bowl full or more.

If the tank is full, wouldn't the ice cubes float at or near top of water level?
If the cubes do float, how are they gonna destroy the poopie pyramid which one would assume is on the bottom of the tank unless you are taking about a really, really, big amount of the brown problem.
Maybe start with the tank empty - except for the poopie pile, then fling the cubes in there and hope they wear it down by taking it for a drive before meltage is complete...

Old guy, I think this is an inherited problem, rather than one he created. Sound advice, though...plenty of water. As to the original problem, Ice and a road trip seem to be the right avenue.

Scientific Ron This is a well known recipe for busting up debris and scraping the tanks. Ice by itself may float, but when you dump in several bags and mix them with a trip they work as described, obviously without filling the tank to the top that defeats the exercise.
