I just bought my TV Converter Box and was trying it out at home. I thought about how I would use it in my RV. We have a 12v TV and VCP but hardly use it. I was planning on buying a new 12v TV with the digital tuner and found one for $330 that would fit. But then my daughter put a bunch of electronic chargers and cellphone stuff on my desk to properly dispose of. I was looking thru it and found a 12v car converter that goes from 1.5v to 12v at 800ma. I thought, what if I could use this on the TV Converter Box. I looked at the box's plug and it reduces 120v ac to 9v dc at 1 amp. That's pretty close 800ma and 1 amp. So I took the converter and TV Converter box out to the RV and began looking for a way to hook it up. I removed the VCP
( only used twice) 12v plug and plugged in the 12v converter and set it to 9v. I plugged it into the TV Converter Box and hooked up the cables. The box will fit perfectly on top of the TV in the cabinet. I turn on the TV and set it to channel 3 and turned on the TV Conveter Box with the remote. Bingo! Works fine. The only thing now is how to align the bat wing for the best signal.
Before you ask, YES I do have a 12v dc to 120v ac inverter. But it is not in the proximity of the TV.
So for the very limited use the TV will get, I think this will work out fine. I will watch to make sure the TV Converter Box is not overheating because of the power/ amp difference.
One more thing. Since I have the power coming from the 12v VCP's plug, the power is shut off by the TV/VCP switch by my sofa. So there will not be any power to the TV Converter Box until I turn on that switch.

Cool move. Much more efficient setup than converting it to 115 then back to 9. I love playing around like that. Good luck with it.

Helped a friend with a Winnebago Adventurer with 12 VDC TV in Bedroom. We got a 2-way 12 volt cigarette socket splitter and a 12 vdc to 3 to 12 VDC adapter at 1500 ma at Walmart. We drilled a hole thru the plywood under the TV and Velcroed the converter under the TV.
