Well the results are in, She has a slight hyperthyroid. Other than that the Vet said he was surprised that for as skinny as she is all her blood work was within normal ranges.

This picture is from before her weight loss.

An orange girl! They are fairly unusual, not genetically strong from what I've been told (due to the way the genes line up) but invariably quite special. I'm on my second, both acquired quite by accident.

What beautiful eyes! Just from what we can see, she doesn't look that old. My first thought on the weight loss was tape worm or another parasite. If you have one of those self-cleaning cat litter contraptions, you might want to investigate a bit.

Our 18 year old girl has been getting her daily pill for her hyperthyroid for the past 4 years. She is holding pretty steady at about 4.5 to 5 pounds. She also drinks quite a bit of water, but otherwise, is doing just fine. Even went outside and walked on her leash for about 20 minutes the other day. Every once in a while she decides she needs a little fresh air! Her arthritis is such that she can no longer jump and has a hard time grooming herself - but baby wipes and brushing keep her looking and smelling good.

Madeline is 22 and has been on hyperthyroid medication twice a day for years. Between that, her raw food diet, and a water fountain on the hearth, she's thriving at 7-9 pounds. She even jumps up on a particular counter to wait for the pills, because that's where I keep her dried fish flakes...

Take pills, get fish flakes. Yep, even old cats are trainable...

Little girl is now all so getting a pill twice a day. Just tucking it in her food works fine. She has gained a little weight and is just under 5 pounds.
