Use to tow my Laredo with a 1500 QC Hemi. It towed fine. I know the weight police will jump in right here, but the truck is really a heavy half design and worked fine. Just hard on gas was all. I got about 9-10 depending on conditions.

It will pull it. How well it pulls it will depend on your rear end gear ratio, etc.

I pull a Jayco Eagle 28.5 (30.5 ft long) with my 2003 Ram 2500HD SB hemi with 3.73.rear end. The total rig when I took it to the scales loaded was 16,000#. Thats about 9200 for the loaded trailer. It pulls great. I got better gas mileage than I did towing a 19H hybrid. (better aerodynamics, bigger tires, etc) It will slow you down on hills unless you shift down and let her rev. Best torque is at about 45 on your tach. Some people are scared by that rev but the hemi loves it.

If I'm not mistaken tow rating for 2500 hemi w/3.73 gears is 8900 lbs and 10,500 with 4.10 gears. My old 2500 hemi pulled my 7500 lb travel trailer okay. Not sure I would want to pull close to 10,000 lbs with it.

I weighed in with my new truck at 17,500lbs. Give 7,500lbs for the megacab and I bet the Laredo is close to 10k. It towed fine. Just hard on gas was all. Gestanton is right. The HEMI loves is revs and gas.

I've been towing a Wildcat 27RL going on 6 seasons without too much problem;it weighs around 9,000lbs loaded. The only issues I have are that I cannot tow in overdrive and I can only use cruise control on the flats otherwise the tranny wants to hunt all the time.

If I were to trade for a new truck, I would get a diesel dually.

I echo the comments above - IF it actually weights 9500 on the road, you'll be at the top of the envelope for the Hemi if it isn't a Megacab, and you'll be happier if you have a 4.1 diff than a 3.7 diff. You'll also want to be careful about what else you put in the truck like passengers, firewood, etc. In other words, you're close but not over what the truck will do. I tow up to about 8000 and carry about 2000 worth of truck camper with my 2500 Hemi, as you can see I have the 3.7 diff, and I'm over on the recommended GCW, but right on the bubble with GVWR and all the rest of it. Third gear (manual trans) up the hills at 55 mph and way less than full throttle.

Thanks for the advise everone, it does have 373 gears,I'm trying to trade for a duramax but if it doesn't happen it sounds like I might be able to pull this thing, now what to do about the short bed issue, I already have the hitch, not a sliding one,I have seen those extensions for the pin box, are they any good?

Sell the hitch and pick up a PullRite. You won't regret the cost.

I'm another one in favor of a sliding hitch with the short bed. I have a Superglide, but any slider is better than no slider in my opinion (I've had both). There will be many who will chime in that you're fine with a non slider, but I just like the comfort factor of having it.
