If you've ever removed and replaced a toilet in your camper, did you replace the seal with a house toilet style wax ring, or did you replace it with the rubber seal that comes with the toilet?

I'd use the rubber seal. They used the wax things in older rigs but it's possible for some movement to occure going down the road so I think the rubber seal is the better way to go.

I replaced my toilet with a new ceramic type 2 years ago. The new toilet came with a new "rubber" seal. I used the new rubber seal and have not had a problem. The old toilet seal came off with out trouble. It was a rubber seal also.

I'd use the rubber seal. Beeswax isn't really made for flexibility. It's more of a conforming thing and doesn't degrade from sewer gases over time. With the movement, vibration, flexing, heat, etc. of an RV I believe rubber would be a better choice.

The only problem with the Foam/Rubber gasket is that it WILL dry up fast unless you are a full timer. A Wax ring can be molded to what ever size you need, and as long as the bolts are secure to the flange there should not be a problem.
