How is US49 from Jackson Mississippi to Biloxi? We will be coming from the Dallas area on I20 and have taken I49 to I10 east. I49 is a washboard and very rough but not much traffic. Taking US49 is shorter but don't know anything about road surface, traffic, speeds and town slow downs.

From many many trips , mostly I-49 , but several on us 49 , I would not ever, ever, ever want to drive us 49 ever ever again. Did I say ever?

How long has it been since you took I-49> They repaved it in Jan/Feb.

Best route from Dallas to Biloxi is: 553 miles

I-20 to I-49 to I-12 to I-10

It will be the best and quickest.

I'd take I-2O from TX all the way to Jackson, MS., then US 49 all the way to downtown Gulfport, then drive the scenic waterfront coast highway to Biloxi.

578 miles total

US-49 Hattiesburg to Gulfport is a roller coaster ride, a lot of small hills up and down. Bring Dramamine.

Only thing wrong with I-49 is the 20miles from Opelousas to Lafayette. Made that run in April. The rest is smooth as can be, so boring almost went to sleep, no good Louisiana bumps to keep you awake. Did I mention boring?

I49 from Opelousas to Lafayette has been repaved...it is smooth again. Correction to the person who said take 20 to 49 to 12 to 10....you will have to take I-10 in Lafayette from 49 to 12 in Baton Rouge then back to 10....good luck
