Has anyone looked into a full body vinyl? wrap similar to the complete covering of large coaches that you see advertising radio stations or products. I inspected a few seen parked and there is not a millimeter of body that was not seamlessly covered including around the edges of every door etc. I understand talking to a few of the drivers that you can specify any design and colors that are then computer cut to specification. they did not know much beyond that but apparently the process is considerably less expensive than a full body paint and can be applied without costly hourly body prep $.
Also seems to last for some considerable period of time. I don't know anymore than this but I wonder.

Whatever you want to call it a wrap is just a decal and as such will suffer the same fate as any other decal. They were intended for temporary installation such as Billboards and progressed from there!

If You are not going to keep the vehicle for many more years it may be a solution to brighten it up, but in the long haul it will need to be replaced whereas Paint should last for the life of the coach!

wraps use more shrink-wrap technology than decal stick-on processes.

Wraps are not permanent, break down in UV, and require replacement(updating) from time to time.

Around Atl, MARTA wraps the busses for high-paying advertisers, and they send them off to be done.

Some folks around here are also being paid to wrap their personal vehicles, but, I do not know if the compensation is worth sticking out like a sore thumb. I prefer my anonymity.

I saw a brand new 2007 Revolution get wrapped and in the process blocked or limited the airflow around the refer unit. The first time they turned it on overnight to cool for a trip the next day.....huge fire and nothing left but a warped chassis and a pile of ash.

Pretty much would eliminate the wrap idea for me......

Just because some du...UM...person of limited itelect... did some thing wrong don't dismiss the hole process. It could be an option for some one on a limited budget or some one who wanted a wild or different look to there coach that could not be painted on.JMO

Sounds like someone didn't think it through. Air holes/vents still need to be open for business. Still, a tragic loss.

You guys are missing the most obvious reason for a wrap is that you can have almost endless ideas for your customized designs as almost anything is possible to do on vinyl. Then you retain a copy of the design on a disk and at the design shop and if you ever need a new wrap, or part of a wrap, it is already on file and a new section could be sent out to you within a week. Let's say there was an accident on one corner of the coach, body shop fixes damage and then reapply that section of wrap and bingo your done and back on the road. Same concept if a section of the wrap, after a dozen years, has faded, then to re-order some sections would be very cost effective. I think that a wrap will let owners customize their coach to their own taste. Great idea!

Here's a link to an FAQ from a Canadian company that supplies them http://www.topwraps.com/car-decals-faq.asp

Sounds nice, BUT I have a feeling between the design and manufacturing costs, the cost per year for their estimated 4-6 year life span may be really high.

Anyone want to ask for a quote and post the costs?

The quote is almost as much as paint. My 32 footer was $6000.

Boomer719 - did you ever think if you cut out the holes the fridge would work?

Wraps last 7 years in full son. Indoor storage helps dramatically.

Lots of posts here on it, use the search function.

A friend of mine had an old southwind painted. A really outstanding job; not really fancy, but nice. It was $12,000.

Maybe the wrap is the way to keep my (soon to be aged) MH looking good forever!
