My Pup has a 1.7cf, Norcold fridge. There is some type of wire (thermostat?) in a horseshoe shape coming from back of fridge and attached to a metal piece on one of the cooling fins. The metal piece on the cooling fin has been rusting since day 1 and is making a mess of the fridge. However, I'm more concerned this is a thermostat that is simply going to rust away and not function any longer (although I thought these small fridges had no thermostats).
I've looked at the manual and can't find a description of this part.
Thanks for the help.

That is the capillary tube and bracket from the thermostat.

If you can get the piece off get it cleaned up, you could coat it with something like clear nail polish. That should help the mess factor.
You might even be able to do coat it right where it is, but you wouldn't be able to move it in the future, if desired.

The thermostat tube is corroding with the aluminum fins as they're two different metals which leads to oxidation in a wet enviroment. I would coat it with anti-seize if you have any.
I just had my fins removed due to seeing caulk oozing from behind. If you take the 3 screws off the left-side fins, you can slide the fins downward as you remove the capillary tube. I had some burnt looking junk (caulk?) on the backside of the fin panel where it contacts the "cold" tube. I cleaned it off, but probably should have gotten some heat-transfer silicon from Radio Shack to put back there.
I'm also fixin' to buy the little fridge fan for inside my fridge. I've found the fridge not as cold as it should be, but the fins are ice cold. The fan should help the moisture problem too.
