I went with a friend today to look at a 2009 jayco eagle 351RLSA. I was pretty impressed with the quality, and the price is $10,000 less than a compaarible designer. I can not seem to figure out the main differences in the 2 models, especially for 10 grand. I would like to know if anyone can give us some input on these untis, likes and dislikes on the eagle. It is a brand new floorplan, but if anyone has this plan, chime in, please. He was gonna order with the linolium in the living area, they did not have one like that to look at, so if anyone could tell me how they handle this around the slides, that would be great! THX

We have had a couple of Eagles, a few Jay Flights and some Jayco Cardinals....and our current Jay Flight. The Eagles are very nice, with a lot of ammenities and great wood work with all that oak. The Jay Flights are plainer on the inside, but fine quality. The Designers are larger, much more opulant, lots of details like cut or frosted glass and Walnut Cabinets, more slides, King beds, more standard features and a general feeling of richness. If you are full timing, the Designer would be the way to go, if not, the Eagle is my favorite due to the great value! The vinyl flooring is done very well, with the appearance of seamlessness between the floor and slideout!

I have a buddy that bought a new Eagle last fall and he loves it. I own a Heartland Bighorn myself, but from all the feed back I have received from friends, Jayco make a fine 5er.

Good Luck.

Best way to compare is these lists:

Jayco Eagle
Jayco Designer

On both of these pages with Options/Standards there is a 'Compare this model' with other Jayco Products. This allows you to select the Eagle and Designer models of interest and it will identify the differences.

If you cant find the exact models to compare, try something close. Some of the differences wont be model specific, but upgrades in materials.

I bought an RLSA last year so it's a Designer. Both trailers are the same size and weight. Last year the maple interior was an option with oak being stanard, now the Desginer comes with maple and the Eagle is oak. A couple of options I don't think you can get on the Eagle are gel coat, and the convection oven, also they each have different interior colors. The 2009 trailers have a different frame and sit a little taller. I probally would have gotten the Eagle given the choice but were very happy with what we have. But the reality is after the discount they are closer in price than 10 grand. There was a new 2008 RLSA with a lot of options on Ebay for less than 40 grand recently.
