A while ago I asked how many would be snowbirding for the 1st time this year. Seems like there will be quite a few.

The question here is how many snowbirds will be giving up snowbirding this year? If you wish to share why, that is fine but if you don't that is ok too.

From what I can see....no one is giving it up. There are of course always health issues that come about.

Our park in the south is completely booked with a long waiting list. I have finially stopped taking names.

Are you asking because of the economy, gas prices, or ?? I believe the "snowbird" season is flurishing...beyond previous years.

I am asking just to determine if the snowbird population is increasing or decreasing. Curiosity mostly.

We're not giving up; we're start getting started. This will be our third year. First year we spent in Texas, second year in Nevada for two months and Arizona for three months. This year we are going to Florida. All the reservations are done. The day after Thanksgiving we will begin the journey to Florida. (Weather permitting)

Happy RVing!

I'm adding one more to the list for snowbirding this winter. With the 37 footer, its cheaper to leave it in one place. So I will be hauling it down to Florida and leaving it there instead of bringing it back home for summer trips.

We have been to RGV, Arizona,(apache junction) and Florida, being from the East Coast it is a long haul to RGV or Ariz., but I have seen enough of Florida, not meaning that in a bad way, but would like to go some where that I have not been already. Since you ask this question maybe I will collect a few ideas, just need to be above freezing,(during the day) and not too windy or rainy, and of course resonable CG's cost. Any good ideas..without the usual smart remarks..........

I think you're going to have a hard time getting the responses to this that you're looking for pawatt. The reason I say this is that the Snowbird forum is beginning to pick up as it gets closer to winter (as would be expected). However, my DW is having some health issues that may keep us from going this winter, and I'm finding it harder and harder to "tune in" and read all the happy plans for getting away for the winter, knowing that we probably won't be going. I think that others who may have decided not to go for one reason or another will also avoid the forum......it's just too durn painful to participate in if you're not included! So, the point is, that the folks that are giving up snowbirding may already be staying away from the forum as well, and aren't even aware of your question.

I see Fannie and Freddy will no longer pay dividends. I would assume that they are commonly held in retirement accounts. Along with the likes of GM Ford etc. Will the reduced income (no dividends) affect Snowbirds???

Hey Pawatt, counting down days till we leave Iowa, it is starting to get cooler here and I am ready to push. Be getting to RGV around first of Nov. See ya there.

Pretty hot here, nearly 100 degrees, we are currently in Moab Utah at Arches National Park. Plan on being in Mission early or mid Nov.
