We are having a continuous problem with our toilet backing up. This is a 5th wheel so we have the bathroom up front and the pipe curves down and angled. Our RV also has a built in flush you connect an outside hose to. We are not newbies so we use the correct paper, and keep our black water shut until we are ready. I've used a snake, hose and even draino. It will clear after fighting it a little. But then you can see it start backing up when you run water down it. I have repeated this ritual numerous times it will still back up. When running a hose down, it seems as if it gets stuck on something then it just frees up. But it will start again.

Its a 2007 and still under warranty and I have written Gulf Stream but got no answer. We are seasonal, so we are waiting to pull out in a few weeks. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Rick

Sounds like someone left something in the pipe during the manufacturing process that is stuck in there. It may be a piece of pipe that was cut off during assembly.
I would call Gulfstream and keep calling until they fixed it or authorized a dealer to fix it no charge.

Or perhaps the down pipe is to long and is setting at the bottom of the tank causing a back up. Would not be the first time.

De-Ja-Vu, Just finished removing my third "clog" in the two years we have owned our fifth wheel trailer. My situation as described by Holiday Rambler is because I can't get my wife and daughters to fill the bowl with water when flushing to make sure there is enough liquid to carry the deposit allllll the way to the tank. When I stay on them it isn't a problem but when they conserve I end up using untold gallons of water to flush the toilet paper clog away.
I found some TP disolver at Camping World which seemed to help a great deal this time.

I think that you should return the trailer to the selling dealer to get that corrected. And when they give it back, but sure that you test it to make sure that it is corrected.

Keep after the manufacturer and warranty. This is a well known problem with some 5th wheels with a more "crooked" pipe to the tank. I've seen them redone; filing the inside joints and using silicone to prevent catches. A temporary fix at best. It is not you and yours but the design that's faulty; don't let them tell you to use more water as above. Good luck, VK

Honestly, sounds like simple math. Dropping a load straight down will reach its destination faster and easier then when the load goes down on an angle.

My bet is that they didn't ream the pipe after cutting it. They possibly have gotten too much glue in the fittings too causing a mound of glue. Either of these things will cause a clog. It's not your fault and don't let the dealer/mfg tell you it is. A good reamed properly glued pipe won't clog that easily.
