We LOVE fall! As I looked up from reading the thread, this is the view from my couch...we're at the South Louisville KOA in Kentucky! They'll be filled up tomorrow and we'll be outta here, but for now, it's heavenly.

We're on a slow drive down to Florida. As soon as the colors start fading, we move further south. Seems to be working out nicely. Warm days, cool nights, no bugs, and no crowds.

I like the way you think/travel!!

Still thinking about how best to do that "first big trip" when we start at least part-timing, as I can retire in Sep 2013. Would like to head west/north maybe up to DW's old stomping grounds (she's from "southern" MN - Rochester) and then follow the weather south, like you are doing. Likely to end up at one of our kids places for Thanksgiving, where ever they may be at that time.

I guess I have some time to think about it.

Well, at least I got to do some late Sep camping in the NC/VA foothills/mountains: Picts

Here on the front range of Colorado they shut off the water to over 3/4 of the campground for the season last week. It's been overcast and raining for the last two days and hovering in the 34-37F range. The holding tank heater came on yesterday and the furnace that's set at 47F ran twice last night. When the furnace runs twice at night within 6 hours at this time of the year, that means the temperature dropped below freezing. This morning the temperature was 30F, the grass crunches when you step on it, there's a light coating of ice on everything and there's light snow on the foothills. Autumn is definitely here.
