My SIL works for a company that gives him a new truck every 20K miles. this years dodge had a problem he has never had with the others he's had in the past. This trucks' catalytic converter plugged up and he only has about 10K on it so far. Tow truck driver said he has picked up at lot of newer dodges for this reason this year. Any one else have this problem this year or in the past?

A Dodge technician told me that if you have a new 6.7 CTD and use diesel fuel that is not Ultra Low in sulfer, it can damage the cat cons.

Probably not the cat. It's the DPF. Diesel Particulate Filter. Thank the Federal Government. The Big 3 all run the DPF. Could be a vehicle software issue. Also, becomes a problem if the wrong fuel or wrong motor oil is used (CJ 4).

Correct also it should be doing its reben on its own if not there is probably a sensor bad since the ones on class 8's are now going for a couple of 100k miles without any attention.

I think he means the DPF, not the CAT. And, the Chevy/GM, and Ford have the same thing on their exhaust.

Possibly driving enviroment depending on how the software is written. GM doesn't clean itself out until it gets driven on the highway under particular parameters. Then it does a self regeneration process to clean itself out. Most vehicles get driven as necessary, but there are ways around it. Short run buses for example.
I don't get lost, I investigate alternative destinations.

Howdy,
Some folks have this trouble and others don't. Seems the folks who do, drive short trips without getting the exhaust system hot enough to self clean or cycle a complete regen, or run the wrong type of fuel. Requires ULSD 15 ppm sulpher, not LSD 500 ppm of sulpher. And of course the possibility of an actual sensor failure or system bug exists too. SO far so good for me.
