I'm sure I'll catch some heat, but the used Georgie Boys I've looked at sure didn't age very well. I would suggest you look at Winnies, Tiffins, or Newmars---especially for the gassers. Much better built units.

We had the same ???'s to ponder when we got our A. We ended up with a gasser for the lesser cost and we knew that this would not be the coach that we retire in. Although the diesel will cost less in fuel, that is offset with higher maint. costs overall, plus I can do my own maint on the gasser. We were looking at what we were going to use it for. We take 1 or 2 long trips a year and use the MoHo at least 1 weekend a month. To us the cost difference wasnt worth it to go diesel this time. JMHO.

Yes their are gasser's over 36 .

My opinion - buy a good used gasser.

Sounds like you are looking to buy new. I'd buy a used 05-07 40' DP which you are more likely to keep at least 10 years. That old a DP should not cost anymore than the new 37' gasser. It will only be a couple years before the bug to have a 40' DP will be nagging at you if you buy the 37'.

I had 3 Gassers before I bought a DP and believe I should have bought a DP on the 1st Go-round.

That notwithstanding, my thought is if you are going to use it less than 3 out of the year and tow occasionally, a higher-end Gasser may be best for you. If 3 or more per year and towing, go with a DP.

I am very happy with my 38ft Winnebago Adventurer (gas), previously I was happy (not very happy) with my 36ft (really 37ft) Pace Arrow Vision (gas). I have more than enough power to tow my Saturn Vue, at 55mph over the Grapevine, a real test for a motorhome. My concerns were that I must have a mid-entry because of the storage space next to my home. I am limited to 38ft by the storage space. Since the MH often sits for 6 months at at time I did not want to worry about fuel deterioration (not sure if this is a legitimate concern. Whatever you choice, enjoy, and happy trails.

Mainly it depends on two things (ASSUMING you can afford either.)
1. What does your wife think
2.Could you be happy driving a Hugo which is damn fine transportation or something with a bit more class. Again, asssuming you could afford either.

Answer those two questions and you will have it figured out.

1. Diesels last longer.

2. Diesels cost more for service and for repairing whatever does break.

If it is worth an extra $34,000+ over 10 years I would take the DP. If you wait 10 years to trade you have a better idea of what you want. Long trips are like beauty as in the eye of the beholder. To me long trip is 7500 + miles and the DP will not beat up on the long drives if you do them

We have a 36 foot DP with 2 slides and planned to keep it at least 10 years and that was in 2002. This one is our 6th. one and we did keep one previously for 10 years. We have yet to find any thing in total we like better so may keep it longer.

We camp (if that is what you call) it in state parks, COE locations as well as "real camp grounds"

My advice is get a lot of CCC and large tanks. Get the four corner weights before you buy to make sure one of the corners are not close to specs and/or over weight.

ENJOY THE RIDE

I like both the Diesel and the Gas coach, price difference is about 280 a month.

I am 44 years old, I have no intention to full time. Would like for the next coach to last a very long time. But based on my past history, will probably trade at some point in the distant future.
