I the 1976 Dodge Sportsman Travelmate. I have had it plugged in for a couple of hours via electric. I see no signs of it cooling as yet. Can anyone give me an estimate? Thanks,

I would think in a couple hours you should be able to feel in the deep Freeze or the coils and feel cold on the metal,

You'll feel it getting cold to touch in an hour, be able to safely put things in freezer in about 8-12 hrs.
Fridge takes a bit longer.

The freezer will feel cold rather soon but the fridge can take a day or two. I always turn ours on at least two days before we head out and then put only pre-cooled foods into it.

Plug it in and let it run overnight. If it's not cold by the next day, it's probably not working, and you should consider replacing the cooling unit, or the entire refrigerator.

I put water in the ice trays then turn on my Ref and within two hours the water will be frozen. I turn the ref on the morning before leaving and by that evening the DW loads the ref and we head out the next day

Try it on gas, it might work on that. Samsontdog's is working vary good, mine is 8 years old and will go from off to making ice cubes in 2 or 3 hrs. I dont precool it, just turn it on using gas and load it up, but what I put in is already cold from the kitchen refer. Mine does work on 120V AC but I never use anything but LP gas, and it never blows out when driving.
It holds about 0* in the freezer and 35 to 40* in the refer section.

goreds,
mine does take a while to cool down after sitting... like others I usually start it up a day or two before I want to use it. If you just put supplies in it and start it up it will take a long time to cool down. Once they are cold they will keep the temp pretty well,,, unless you have kids that sit and look in it like they do at home wondering what is in there...

I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere!
